Deerhunter at Austin Psych Fest 2013 (more by Tim Griffin)
Deerhunter

Governors Ball is less than a month away, and the fest has now released the daily schedule. They've done a pretty good job with not too many giant conflicts -- though there's a few like Grizzly Bear vs Beirut, Bloc Party vs The xx, Erykah Badu vs Beach House, and Nas vs Guns N Roses. Check out the daily line-ups across their four stages below.

Graham Parker

Arriving on the mid-'70s London scene as a rough'n'ready product of the pub-rock era -- an R&B- loving Nick Lowe with a sharper, more ambitious pen, as it were -- Parker predated Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, both of whom would second his illustration that the singer/songwriter idiom could be recharged, giving intelligent rock fans an excitable and energetic alternative to (slightly) older guardsmen like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Randy Newman and Van Morrison. - [Trouser Press]
Last year, pub rock survivor Graham Parker reunited with his old band, The Rumour, to make Three Chords Good, their first album together in 31 years. You can stream the album below via Spotify.

Graham and the Rumour are currently touring the record in America and will be playing the previously mentioned NYC show at Concert Hall at the NY Society for Ethical Culture on Saturday (12/1, tickets) with openers The Figgs, and then The Paramount Theatre in Long Island on Sunday (12/2, tickets) which is a co-headling show with Ian Hunter. All tour dates are below.

Parker's had a long career, and had college radio hits with his 1988 album The Mona Lisa's Sister and has kept on going since. He may be about to get another moment in the spotlight as fan Judd Apatow tapped Parker to not only contribute songs to his new film, This Is 40, but also appear in the film. The comedy, a sideways sequel to Knocked Up (about Paul Rudd's character from that film) will be out in theaters December 21. The soundtrack was produced by Jon Brion and also features Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, Lindsay Buckingham, Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Paul Simon, Wilco, Loudon Wainwright and more. Tracklist is below, as is the trailer for the film.

A list of tour dates, album stream, videos, and the This Is 40 trailer and soundtrack tracklist, below...

Beach Boys @ The Grammys
Beach Boys

Though the Bonnaroo lineup won't be announced until later today (via Spotify), Knoxville.com has supposedly leaked some of it via a photo gallery which includes Beach Boys, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Phish, Foster the People, Alice Cooper, Ludacris, Black Star, Skrillex, Punch Brothers, The Avett Brothers, The Shins, Flogging Molly, Feist and Aziz Ansari. We can't know for sure if this is all correct, but I did hear that the Beach Boys were playing, and many of those bands have been rumored for a while, and the Beach Boys have promised more dates, so... well, we'll see soon! UPDATE: Yep, they are!

If it is all true, I really hope that this time Foster the People stay off the Beach Boys' stage unlike at the Grammys, as you can watch below...

7 Worlds Collide7 Worlds Collide's Sun Came Out is a unique album, a project by Neil Finn with original songs written and performed by Finn, Jeff Tweedy, Johnny Marr, KT Tunstall and others.

The Avett Brothers' I and Love and You is one of the year's musical highlights for me, I can't recommend this disc enough.

Other releases I can recommend this week include Cymbals Eat Guitars' Why There Are Mountains (which finally gets a label release), Ghostface Killah's Ghostdini the Wizard of Poetry, Hope Sandoval's Through The Devil Softly, Karen O's Where The Wild Things Are Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Original Songs By Karen O And The Kids, Langhorne Slim's Be Set Free, Princeton's Cocoon of Love, and Richmond Fontaine's We Used to Think the Freeway Sounded Like a River.

Genesis Live 1973-2007 is an 8-CD, 3-DVD box set that collects the four (now remastered) live albums the band put out in that period, each with bonus tracks.

Aside from the Genesis live box set, the only reissues worth mentioning this week are two from The Brian Jonestown Massacre (Love EP and This Is Why You Love Me EP) and Matthew Friedberger's 2006 double solo album, Winter Women/ Holy Ghost Language School.

What new music can you recommend this week? What's on your shopping list?

Jane's Addiction - @ Echoplex, Los Angeles - Feb 16, 2009 (revolute)
Jane's Addiction

Live Nation and Adam Zacks are pleased to announce this year's line up for the Sasquatch! Music Festival at the legendary Gorge in Eastern Washington. The festival, now in its eighth and most ambitious year yet, has evolved from a unique, homegrown & low key fest into a full blown three day extravaganza. A festival-goer's dream, it comes complete with camp-outs, canyons, sunsets, three stages and new this year, an expanded comedy and dance music tent. The tent will feature performances from comedians throughout the day, and then come dusk, will spotlight electronic and dance music artists.

Already the official opener to summer for music fans, the Sasquatch! Music Festival is becoming a certified monster of a musical event: this year features another exciting and diverse line-up for the musically adventurous, and ups the ante on an event already hailed for its independent spirit. Tickets go on sale Saturday February 28th at 10AM

Weather

Due to threat of inclement weather, The Avett Brothers show scheduled for tonight at Rockefeller Park has been forced to move indoors. Please join us at Stuyvesant High School, 345 Chambers Street, for the show at 7 pm.
Sucks for Juana Molina and Feist.

Hopefully the same doesn't happen to St. Vincent tomorrow.

The Avett Brothers @ Jam on the River 2008 (more by Kyle Dean Reinford)
The Avett Brothers

To our dearest fans,

Since we first performed as The Avett Brothers, we have been fortunate enough to find and build a genuine and mutual respect with those who care to listen. It is this kind exchange that champions our music, and allows us the forum to continue on our path, with this work, this art. We believe this to be an appropriate time for a brief update, as we would like for you all to know of the most noteworthy of present developments.

We have recently begun working on a new full length album with Rick Rubin. The recording process has been, and will no doubt continue to be,an experience defined by heightened levels of commitment and conviction. It is our distinct pleasure and honor to be in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to fruition.

With this union has come another, as we have just completed and signed an agreement with American/Columbia Records, the label with whom we will proudly release our next record. It is our sincere hope, in regard to this news, that our ongoing relationship with Ramseur Records is understood. There have been, and will be no hard feelings or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally. There has been no change in these matters through this momentous transition.

For all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation, we continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentiment. The music would go nowhere without you. Our hearts and our minds are on the recording of this next album, and we look forward with great anticipation to sharing it with you all. Until then, thank you as always, and we will see you somewhere on that open road...

Sincerely,
The Avett Brothers
