DOWNLOAD: The Long Blondes - Christmas is Cancelled (MP3)

We have decided to call it a day.

The main reason for this is that I suffered from a stroke in June and unfortunately I do not know when / if I will be well enough to play guitar again.

On behalf of the band I'd like to say a big thank you to anyone who ever came to one of our shows, bought one of our records or danced to one of our songs in a club. Thank you, if it wasn't for you the whole thing would have been pointless.

Finally on a personal note, thanks for all your well wishing messages.

[The Long Blondes]

I knew The Long Blondes broke up, and I knew I had never posted about it before (that letter was posted right before CMJ in October), but I only now realized the reason was so tragic. I hope Dorian does get well enough to play again. That said, the band seems to be in relatively good spirits for the holidays... sort of... because they recently released their "anti-xmas tune" for free download. The King Left just finished a popular residency at Pianos in NYC. In addition to the Maxwell's show, The King Left are also opening for The Long Blondes at Bowery Ballroom (who are playing with Beat Up Old Fellas at Luna Lounge who are playing with...). If Cloud Cult and Franz Ferdinand had a baby it might be the extremely catchy MP3 I have linked above.

Luckily their Bowery show is 18+....

I don't know why, but I keep getting The Long Blondes (UK) confused with The Shout Out Louds (Sweden) in my head. One isn't liked much by Jarvis, and the other just signed to Merge. I do fully know the difference between those two bands and Four Non Blondes, Blonde Redhead, The Long Winters, Shout Out Out Out Out, Silent Shout, and Some Loud Thunder though. I won't mess it up again.
