Dillinger Escape Plan at Terminal 5 (more by Greg Cristman)
Dillinger Escape Plan

Good news, bad news, good news. Let's start with the bad and then go to the good.

The RSVP for the Dillinger Escape Plan show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 27 with The Faceless and Royal Thunder has run dry. That said, we have a pair to giveaway to a lucky individual, details on how to get into this Converse Rubber Tracks event are below.

In addition, DEP has announced that they will headline the Summer Slaughter festival for 2013, snagging support from Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, AEON, Rings of Saturn and Thy Art is Murder. Though dates as a whole have yet to be revealed, look for that lineup to play House of Blues in Los Angeles on July 20 and Best Buy Theater in NYC on August 7. Tickets for the latter go on sale April 19 at noon.

Contest details and song streams are below.

Leviathan's True Traitor True Whore
Leviathan

Leviathan's True Traitor True Whore was hands down my most anticipated release of this year, especially considering my reverence for his last LP Massive Conspiracy Against All Life. True Traitor True Whore is Jef Whitehead's personal statement toward the recent charges brought upon him, according to his interview in Pitchfork, and it is also one of his most daring and overtly "rock" leaning records yet. TTTW is one of my favorite sort of records, opening itself up more and more with repeated listening, and is definitely another notch in his already storied career as an outsider artist. Stream three Leviathan tracks below, which previously posted at Pitchfork (x2) and Invisible Oranges, and get your copy via Profound Lore.

The same night that Torche and Part Chimp attack Mercury Lounge (11/9), Exhumed will team with Goatwhore and Havok to play Europa. Tickets are still available to both Europa and Merc, but I have a pair of tickets available for giveaway for the Europa show. Head below for more details on how you can win. The Torche/Part Chimp split, which we previewed recently, is currently streaming in full at Spin.

Concussion will hit Public Assembly on 11/10 with Worms In Women And Cattle (Pippi Zornoza from the live incarnation of Wold), Syphilitic Lust, and Sannhet.

And last but not least, The Ocean have added a show at Saint Vitus on 11/8 with Family, Alekhine's Gun, and The Binary Code. All US dates and some in their home base of the EU, are below.

More details on how to win those Exhumed tickets, an incredible Neurosis video and more suggested NYC shows are below.

Flourishing @ Public Assembly
Flourishing

Flourishing hasn't existed quite as long as Wetnurse, but Wetnurse/Flourishing guitarist Garett Bussanick has already cranked out a pair of Flourishing releases in as many years. The second release for the band he also sings for is due on August 2nd via The Path Less Traveled Records. The Sum Of All Fossils features eight tracks of atonal eclectic guitar wizardry that crosses barriers between grind, death metal, prog, and post-hardcore. Check out the lead track from the LP, "By Which We're Cemented", streaming below for the first time.

Flourishing will team up with Humanity Falls to play Port 41 in NYC on July 10th as part of a larger tour for Humanity Falls and their touring partners The Leviathan's Mandible. All tour dates are below along with a new Humanity Falls track and a stream of their 2010 LP Ordaining The Apocalypse.

Humanity Falls will link up with the the Ash Borer/Ruin Lust tour at The Meatlocker in NJ on 7/12. That's one day after Ash Borer play NYC for the first time at Tommy's Tavern (not at Semi-Legit as previously announced. the show was moved). July 16th at Acheron is still on, and with support from ITHI.

Back on 4/13 while Floor was blasting down the walls and Hawks were trying to keep their pants on at Music Hall of Williamsburg, The Ocean were playing with the always impressive East of The Wall and Flourishing at Public Assembly next door. A set of belated pictures from Public Assembly are in this post. They continue, along with album details, streams, and tour dates, below...

The Ocean

The Ocean released their latest LP Heliocentric last year, and will head out on tour in April of this year. They play a rare show in NYC, their first since touring with Kylesa, Withered, and Lair of The Minotaur in 2008, at Public Assembly on April 13th with East of The Wall & Flourishing .

The NYC date is one of three headlining dates for the band before they head out on tour with Job For A Cowboy, Between The Buried & Me & Cephalic Carnage. That trek begins at Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, NY on 4/15 (tickets), and swings through New England Metal & Hardcore Fest on 4/16. There the band will share a bill their old tour-mates Withered, who will loop back to NYC on on their tour with Krallice, Ipsissimus, & Cleric.

Memorial Day is a day of rememberance..... a day to remember that every band on every bill at every show should be worth every minute of your time. Monday's show at the Knitting Factory in NYC (tonight - May 26) is one of those rare heavy shows, featuring co-headliners The Ocean and Kylesa, as well Lair Of The Minotaur and Withered. Tickets are still available.

Withered will open the show, touring to road-test some blackened crusty weight from their new Prosthetic debut Folie Circulaire, their first since the critically acclaimed 2005 LP Memento Mori. Mastered by Scott Hull and featuring Barney Greenway of Napalm Death, we've got the the track "The Fated Breath" for you to download above, and you can preview even more Folie Circulaire goodness at their myspace....

Scott WeinrichThe Hidden Hand, Place Of Skulls, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, and the aforementioned Shrinebuilder all have had one thing in common, the stamp of quality by doom legend Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Now Southern Lord brings word of "Punctuated Equilibrium", aka the "Wino" solo record!
