These New Puritans @ GOOD Magazine Party, NYC, 6/7/08 (Extrawack)

I didn't like These New Puritans before and seeing them Saturday night at Santos' Party House only solidified that feeling. Someone else who told me even less nice things about Sunday night's show at Music Hall, and, another of many anonymouses wrote, "not good. period. totally derivative and unengaging." What did you think?
They also played at Solar One while they were here (pictured above). More tour dates HERE (if you dare).

I decided before SXSW that I didn't really like These New Puritans (I made the right choice?), but now that the UK band (who are signed to Domino) are about to reach NYC (part of a larger North American tour), I figure I should at least give them one more chance or at a minimum point out that they are playing the Friction party at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sunday, plus Misshapes @ Santos Party House and a Green Market party while they're here. The new venue with an identity crisis. The popular former weekly party (and associated celebrities) that everyone loves to hate. A new website. A British band signed to Domino. Their labelmate on the ones and twos. Other stuff.....

WHO: GOOD, Council on the Environment of City of New York (CENYC), Greenmarket, Solar One and JetBlue are teaming up to bring the farm to the city for a single night of fun, food and festivities. All subscribers to GOOD magazine 21 years of age and older are welcome to join. To non-subscribers, the price of admittance to this event is $20, which goes to support Greenmarket, a program of Council on the Environment NYC (CENYC), and adds you to GOOD's subscription base.This is where Citysol is (at the Solar One site). More details below....WHAT: At the "Choose GOOD Farmers' Fair," guests can participate in bee keeping, fresh mozzarella cheese making, farming and rainwater harvesting, while learning about the value of locally grown produce.
To keep the soiree going, a menu of unique Greenmarket cocktails and an assortment of fresh market-based noshes will be served, while musical guests: These New Puritans, Jacques Renault and David Prince perform throughout the evening.
