The Sarah Silverman Program @ Comic-Con 2007 in San Diego (CRED)

The entire cast of The Sarah Silverman Program gathered at this year's Comic-Con to share clips from their second sesaon and a tape of Steve Agee masturbating, or as the moderator, comedian Zach Galifianakis, put it "alphabetizing his testicles." (He was alphabetizing for comedic purposes, of course.) Needless to say, it was an R-rated evening all around. [TV Squad]I was recently browsing the 92nd St. Y calendar and noticed that they have some unbelievable shows happening in the coming months. They're all very unique, once-in-a-lifetime type shows. Check it:
9/05/2007: Michael Palin of Monty Python with Lorne MichaelsCheck out more upcoming shows at the end of this post.
9/06/2007: Larry David in Conversation with Susie Essman
9/23/2007: Alan Alda with Roger Rosenblatt: Talking About Talking
9/23/2007: A Tribute to Robert Altman with Tim Robbins, Bob Balaban and others
10/23/2007: Stephen Colbert: I Am America (And So Can You!)
12/9/2007: Steve Martin
Oh, and Weird Al Yankovic, the nicest man in showbidness, is at the Beacon Theater on September 20th. THAT is going to be awesome. More tour dates at his site, and you can try the presale for tix too.
I rarely mention Mike Birbiglia on here, which is a shame because he is brilliant. In support of his new album, My Secret Public Journal Live, Mike Birbiglia is embarking on a massive tour. Lotsa colleges, lotsa theaters, no NYC. Complete list of dates here. Look out for the record on September 25th.
Lots more comedy, BELOW.....

Tim Robbins @ Sin-e (MORE)

Last night two different people told me that two different NYC music venues are closing, or already closed.
1) R&R - the short-lived meatpacking district venue is possibly already closed
2) Sin-e - the lower east side venue is supposedly closing in April.
As many of you know, Sin-é (pronounced shin-ay) was an important music venue exposing many New Yorkers to vital talent in the early 90's. Located on St. Mark's Place in the East Village, Sin-é gave wings to such performers as Katell Keineg, Jeff Buckley, and David Gray. The informal atmosphere and devoted regular audience were instrumental in creating a fertile musical scene that flourished until Sin-é closed it's doors in the mid 90's.Sin-e re-opened in its current LES side location in 2003.
Frankies 457 is a vegan-friendly reasonalby-priced fancyish Italian restaraunt on Court St in Brooklyn. The (vegan) food (that I've had) is awesome. In yesterday's Gawker Stalker I found out the Black Crowes are Frankies fans too...

"That band/fan synergy was at maximum power Friday during a generous two-hour gig where 1,000 lucky fans got to road test much of the Seattle group's new, self-titled record along with some choice material from the PJ back catalog." [NY Post]
"With arms waving and voices raised, a packed crowd joined Eddie Vedder singing, 'Oh, oh, I'm still alive' at Irving Plaza on Friday night. Mr. Vedder's band, Pearl Jam, is the lone survivor among Seattle's multimillion-selling grunge bands of the early 1990's, and it has held onto its audience in the most old-fashioned way, through constant touring. Its Irving Plaza show was a rare break from an international circuit of arenas and stadiums." [NY Times]
"The venue was tight and tiny. Reminiscent of the early days when Pearl Jam packed small clubs like CBGB’s and everyone in the crowd was warring for centimeters.......Drew Barrymore, Fabrizio Moretti, Flea, Mary-Kate Olsen, Giselle Bundchen, Tim Robbins, Susan Saradon, the lead singer from Anthrax, and Ed’s wife (Jill) and daughter (Olivia) were all there." [Gremmie] (the guys who waited in line for 35 hours)
"I had never actually seen someone leap off the balcony at irving. That was awesome." [Jeddeth]
My friend Nick (the one who waited for 24 hours) took the pics you see below...

Susan Sarandon, Mike Myers (also spotted recently eating at Angelica Kitchen), and Mike Neuman were all at Sin-e last night (Nov 9, 2005) checking out Tim Robbins' band Gob Roberts. Mike said the music was classic rock meets Dead Kennedys and they covered an X song. He took these photos.

"He runs me through his schedule for the next month, which includes acting, editing, visits to London (to prepare but not perform in Embedded) and Venice, and finally a brief tour supporting Pearl Jam with his weekend band Gob Roberts as part of an effort to register voters for the presidential election in November." [Guardian Unlimited talking about Tim Robbins]
Photo of Tim Robbins singing in Gob Roberts while opening for Pearl Jam from here.
Gob Roberts is scheduled to perform at 7:30 TONIGHT (Nov 9, 2005) @ Sin-e in NYC. Candy & the Lucky 13, Majorette, Jesse Diamond & The Thousand, and The Kites are also on the bill.

"Dear Friends,
We are in the last 4 days of The Tank's existence on 42nd Street. After this Saturday night we close up shop, and begin moving out so that The Man can bulldoze the entire block sometime in early June.
