Fiery Furnaces

The Fiery Furnaces are going on tour in October. Right before that they'll be playing for free at Sound Fix Records here in Brooklyn, NY (October 6th @ 8pm). After the tour they're back in NYC for a show at Hiro Ballroom in Manhattan on November 3rd. Then they go overseas.

At Sound Fix, the Furnaces play right after Tom Brosseau whose new record I've been listening to a bunch lately. It's called Cavalier, is out on Fat Cat on October 23rd, is discussed over at songs:illinois, and I would definitely get there early to check him out.

His second FatCat release and most focused batch of songs to date, was produced and recorded by John Parish, best known for his work with PJ Harvey, at Toy Box studio in Bristol, UK over a week this past May. A huge fan of Tom's music after witnessing him play live, John augments Tom's songs with an array of subtle, sympathetic instrumentation and recording techniques; he provides deft flourishes, underlining or embellishing Tom's work.
