Tomahawk at FFF Fest 2012 (more by Glen Brown)
Tomahawk

Tomahawk, the supergroup led by rock wizard Mike Patton who is joined by Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle), and John Stanier (Battles, Helmet), reformed this year and released Oddfellows, their first album since 2007. In typical Tomahawk fashion, it's manic and all over the place. You can hear the entire thing over at SPIN, and watch the video for "Stone Letter" below.

Tomahawk will be kicking off an Australian tour this weekend, adn they've just announced that in June they'll be playing some US shows, including a NYC show on June 2 at Best Buy Theater. Tickets for that show are on AmEx presale now, go on AEG Live presale today (2/21) at 10 AM (password: "FELLOWS"), and general sale Friday (2/22) at noon.

A list of all dates and that video below...

Paul Banks isn't the only Interpol member with a solo itch to scratch. Drummer Sam Fogarino has announced his solo project EmptyMansions and will release his debut, snakes/vultures/sulfate, in April. Says Sam of the album:

Some things can take decades to arrive at. In this case I'm speaking of songwriting---Even within the simplicity of a typical rock band configuration: guitar, bass, and drums. Not highly original or too complicated---Nonetheless, what this "thing" can be is highly illusive, hard to grasp, and even harder to wrangle into a worthy song. This might be why, we as fans and musicians alike, return to such a common voicing repeatedly---New or old, it's familiar, it's comfortable, and at times, it's the only fucking thing that feels right. In November 2011, at the completion of a fifteen month long tour supporting Interpol's fourth, self titled effort, I found that I had finally arrived at EmptyMansions. A long time coming; not without effort, but rather without force---This alone took years to figure out. The songs that I had written, I not only liked, but had to sing myself. There was no choice in the matter. To do it any other way would have rendered the whole endeavor dishonest and pointless.
Helping Sam make the album were Duane Denison (of Jesus Lizard and Tomahawk) and Secret Machines' Brandon Curtis (who played keyboards in Interpol on their last tour). You can stream "Lyra" from the album below. Cover art and tracklisting are below as well.

Tomahawk at Fun Fun Fun Fest 2012 (more by Glen Brown)
Tomahawk
Eclectic supercrew Tomahawk, featuring Mike Patton, Duane Denison, Trevor Dunn and John Stanier, are back in action. Though the quartet hasn't scheduled anything for the NYC area yet, it may be because they've been hard at work on Oddfellows, the band's new effort for Ipecac and first LP in more than five years. It's out January 29 and we've got the premiere of its title track.

A list of what tour dates there are -- and the song stream -- are below.

John Stanier of Battles/Tomahawk (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Battles

Tomahawk is back! The supercrew featuring Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantomas, etc), Duan Denison (The Jesus Lizard), Trevor Dunn (Melvins Lite, Fantomas) and John Stanier (Battles, Helmet) has returned with a new LP Oddfellows, due this January via Ipecac. Check out an album teaser below.

Faith No More also have some shows scheduled this summer, as do Faith No More member Roddy Bottum's band Imperial Teen.
