Lower Dens @ Chicago's the Riv, 10/1/2012 (more by Grant McAllister)

Baltimore's Lower Dens went into new, motorik directions on their second album, Nootropics so it makes sense that tracks from the record might work well in the remix world. Hence, the Nootropics Remixed EP which takes three cuts off the album and puts them into the hands of Trentemøller, Cex, and Steve Moore. You can stream Trentemøller's excellent recrafting of Nootropics standout cut "Brains" below. Meanwhile, Lower Dens shared with us their picks for Best of 2012. All four current members contributed lists and none of them were straight LP lists, mixing media with inclusions for live shows, books, food, film and ephemera. Check them out below, along with that "Brains" remix.

Danish electronic musician Trentemøller is playing a few European festivals this summer and then heading out on a North American tour in October and November. The tour includes a NYC show on October 14 at Webster Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday (7/22) at noon and are on AmEx pre-sale now.

Electronic artist and DJ Trentemoller has a few dates in Mexico before making an appearance at SXSW on 3/19 at La Zona Rosa with Shit Robot, Beardy Man, and many others. From there it's off to Ultra Festival in Miami, and then April live band dates that include Coachella and Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 24th with Dorit Chrysler. Tickets for the Brooklyn show are currently on AmEx presale and go on regular sale at noon on Friday.

The band is: "guitarist/bassist Mikael Simpson, drummer (and renowned fashion designer) Henrik Vibskov, guitarist Lisbet Fritze, and vocalists Josephine Philip and Marie Fisker." All tour dates and a video is below.
