Big Krit

Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T. is planning to release his new album, Cadillactica, later this year and he recently put out its single "Pay Attention." It's got a crooning airy R&B hook from Rico Love and minimal production from Jim Jonsin, but don't let that make you think K.R.I.T.'s gone soft on us. His rhymes still steal the show. You can stream that below.

K.R.I.T.'s now announced a fall North American tour with rising Atlanta crew Two-9, dubbed the "Pay Attention Tour." That hits NYC on October 7 at Highline Ballroom. Tickets for that show go on sale today (8/15) at noon. All dates are listed below.

K.R.I.T. also appears on Rick Ross's "Supreme" remix, along with Mase and Fabolous. You can stream that below too. Both Rick Ross and Fabolous are on board for the Def Jam 30th Anniversary celebration at Barclays Center.

List of Big K.R.I.T. dates, with both song streams, below...

World's Fair

Queens rap collective World's Fair put out their new "Uh Huh" single late last month, and we've now got the premiere of another new one, "Snow About 10 Feet." This one's got four of the six members (Cody B. Ware, Remy Banks, Jeff Donna and Nasty Nigel) for a posse cut that's a fine example of the wealth of New York rap we've gotten lately. Fans of Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers or A$AP Mob, don't sleep on this. Check it out below.

World's Fair are currently on a previously discussed tour with Two-9 that hits their home city of NYC TONIGHT (6/10) at The Studio at Webster Hall with two other quality locals, Cities Aviv and Aaron Cohen. Tickets for tonight's show are still available and we're also giving away a pair for free. Head to the BrooklynVegan Facebook for details on how to enter to win.

Updated dates are listed, with the tour flyer and song stream, below...

Ringo Deathstarr in Austin in 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
Ringo

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows, but here are some highlights...

Ringo Deathstarr, Heaven, Harsh Vibes, Residual Kid @ Baby's All Right
A night off of their tour with Peter Murphy, noisy Austinites Ringo Deathstarr make time for a headlining show. These three do post-MBV shoegaze about as well as anyone, with a strong pop sense as well.

Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Kacey Musgraves @ Radio City Music Hall
Country legend and activist Willie Nelson remains active at 81 years young, and any chance to see him is still a good one. Opening the show are mid-'80s era veteran (and onetime Robert Plant collaborator) Allison Krauss and Kacey Musgraves whose newest album Same Trailer Different Park got love from NPR, SPIN and the Grammys.

Honduras, Venetia Fair, Sharkmuffin, Desert Sharks @ Cake Shop
Honduras bring a lot of different influences to the table. A little garage, yes, but there's '80s/'90s British indie too. While it may not be anything you haven't exactly heard before, Honduras write very hooky songs and, as importantly, the bring a real energy to the performance.

Tyvek, Sleepies, Red Dawn II, Mr. Transylvania @ Death by Audio
Tightly wound Detroit noise unit Tyvek have been quiet of late -- something not usually associated with them -- as their most recently release was the Domestic Five cassette in 2013. Perhaps we'll find out what they've been up to

Lorna Dune, Bryce Hackford, Master Class, Brian Traister @ Glasslands
Brooklyn's Lorna Dune (real name Lorna Krier) makes electronic music that sounds good in headphones but should get a dancefloor moving too.

Die Antwoord, DJ Cindy Kim @ Irving Plaza
Do u fink Die Antwoord's freeky and like them a lot? Head to Irving Plaza tonight.

First Aid Kit @ Rough Trade
Swedish duo FIrst Aid Kit make more haunting folk pop on their new major label debut, Stay Gold, which comes out today. To get into this you have to be one of the first 300 people to purchase the album from the Rough Trade NYC store starting today at 11 AM.

Grim Reaper, Fantom Warrior, Iron Force @ Saint Vitus
Grim Reaper may have not gained the popularity of some of their other falsetto-streaked NWOBHM peers, but all three of their albums are rippers and they've deservedly earned some cult status. The band, led by vocalist Steve Grimmett (the solo original member) kick off a 2-night run at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus tonight. They're also promising a new album. Needless to say, these shows should get interesting.

Curtis Harding @ Mercury Lounge
Atlanta's Curtis Harding made a strong impression at SXSW where his "magnetism, pipes and chops were evident from note one." The guy's the real deal. Check out his debut album, Soul Power, which is out now on Burger. This is his first of two NYC shows.

The Dreebs, Sunflower Bean, Big Neck Police @ Silent Barn
The Dreebs aim for sheer ear attack and hit their target like an elephant gun. Sunflower Bean, meanwhile, make melodic psych-pop with a lot of charm.

Worlds Fair, Two-9, Cities Aviv, Aaron Cohen @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Queens rap crew World's Fair and Atlanta rap crew Two-9 are on tour together, and tonight they come to World's Fair's home city, for what should undoubtedly be a great double bill. Alt-rapper Cities Aviv and Golden Era worshipper Aaron Cohen (stream his album) are worth catching too.

Jeremy Messersmith, Big Scary @ Bowery Ballroom
Glassnote-signed pop-folk musician Jeremy Messersmith headlines Bowery Ballroom tonight, and if you're going we think it's worth catching Australian Barsuk signees Big Scary.

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Rich Medina @ Highline Ballroom
The youngest son of Fela Kuti, Seun leads his late father's band, Egypt 80, as part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival.

Commander Cody @ Hudson Square Music & Wine Festival
The Hudson Square Music & Wine Festival happens every Tuesday through August 26 in the back parking lot behind NYC venue City Winery with free, all ages shows from 5 to 7:30 PM. Today's is with long-running (since the late '60s) country rocker Commander Cody.

Boot Camp Clik, CJ Fly, T'Nah Apex, Raz Fresco, Chelsea Reject @ Betsy Head Park (Summerstage, FREE)
This show, co-sponsored by us at BrooklynVegan, is the Duck Down BBQ which fill feature quality old school hip hop from the Boot Camp Clik (aka Buckshot, Smif N Wessun, Sean Price & Rock of Heltah Skeltah), plus two members of Pro Era (CJ Fly and T'Nah Apex) and more. Starts at 6 PM, free admission and free food.

Max Silvestri @ Littlefield
Longtime host of free NYC comedy show Big Terrific, funnyman Max Silvestri releases his first album, King Piglet, this week and he celebrates at this show tonight. Nick Turner and Kate Berlant will also be on hand, as well as some "Very Special Guests."

And just a heads up, the NYC-area will be loaded with brown flip flops tonight, as Jack Johnson is playing Prospect Park and Dave Matthews will be at PNC Bank Arts Center.

For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.

Killer Mike in Austin in 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
Killer Mike

Atlanta rapper Killer Mike spent a great deal of 2012 on the road in support of that year's excellent R.A.P. Music album, and though he doesn't have a 2013 tour scheduled at the moment, he does have a bunch of festival appearances coming up. He'll head to Texas this March for 35 Denton followed by SXSW, and will also be at Sasquatch!, Bonnaroo, Primavera Sound, the Black Hippy-headlined Paid Dues Festival in San Bernardino, the just-announced ten-day Ottawa Bluesfest (he plays on 7/10 with Weezer, Passion Pit, Animal Collective, El-P and others), and he will be near NYC in July for Camp Bisco. Bisco tickets are still available.

However, if you want to see him actually in NYC and much sooner than that, you can enter Scion A/V's Twitter/Instagram contest (instructions and details HERE) to get into the Killer Mike show Scion is presenting on March 20 at Public Assembly with Two-9 and Morri$, as part of the same series that A$AP Rocky just played. Entering Scion's contest is the only way to gain access to the show.

All Killer Mike dates are listed, along with the Public Assembly show flyer, below...
