This year's lineup was just announced, and it includes Death Cab for Cutie performing Transatlanticism (in case The Postal Service reuniting wasn't enough Ben Gibbard nostalgia for you), Kendrick Lamar, MGMT, The Breeders, The Zombies, Alt-J, Deerhunter, Baroness, Crystal Castles, Gary Numan, Joey Bada$$, Eric Burdon, Bob Mould, David Bazan, Charli XCX, Redd Kross, The Men and more.

Tickets (3-day passes, 2-day passes, and single day tickets) for the festival are on sale now.

SXSW has just announced another round of bands for the 2013 edition of the annual music festival that will happen March 12 - 17. This brings the total current number of acts to around 1300. Someome of the highlights include Vampire Weekend, Frightened Rabbit, The Thermals, Black Lips, Camera Obscura, Merchandise, Bleached, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Eagles of Death Metal, Parenthetical Girls, Indians, Night Beds, IO Echo, KEN Mode, Prince Paul, Pure Bathing Culture, Sepalcure, UK motorik post-punks TOY, Finnish instrumentalists K-X-P, Toronto's Moon King, UK indie rockers Splashh (not Brooklyn Splash with one "h") and loads more. The Who are out performing their classic 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia on a tour that came to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night (11/14), the first of five NYC-area dates that stretch into the new year (actually six if you count the just-announced Sandy benefit). Tickets are still on sale for those other shows, and pictures and the setlist from the Brooklyn show are in this post. .

Someone at the Greensboro show wrote:

"Concluding Quadrophenia with a stellar "Love Reign O'er Me," the encore was a string of greatest hits which ignited the crowd. "Baba O' Reilly" had the whole coliseum on it's feet reliving teenage wasteland days. Next, Townsend's guitar laid out the opening notes to "Pinball Wizard" and Daltrey seized the vocals. Daltrey was excellent on the classic "Behind Blue Eyes" while manhandling an acoustic guitar. "Who Are You" rocked the place once more before bringing the house down with "Won't Get Fooled Again." As scenes from 9/11 flashed on the video screens the power and emotion of the music could not have been clearer." [CL]

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/Feist

Before the release of their 2011 album, "Hysterical," Clap Your Hands Say Yeah had been inactive for three years, but they were as lively as ever on Monday afternoon. Blowing through tracks from all three of their albums, Alec Ounsworth and company charged through a set full of guitar-based indie rock that catered heavily towards their fans. But judging by the crowd's response, even those who were unfamiliar with the band were enticed. After playing Sasquatch! 2006 on a much smaller stage, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's triumphant set had the crowd, well, clapping their hands and saying "yeah!"

Mogwai (who have upcoming shows with Balam Acab) were supposed to play that day but they cancelled last minute and were replaced by Deer Tick who came on to play a set of covers.
