El Sportivo

Brooklyn band El Sportivo & The Blooz will release their debut album, Nights & Weekends, next week (2/26) via White Iris, the label that gave us early tastes of Best Coast, Guards and FIDLAR. As the band's name implies, they've got a dusty, bluesy rock sound and we've got the premiere of the album's lead track, "Breaks My Heart," which you can stream below.

The band will play a record release show in NYC on February 27 at Pianos which is also part of the last week of Cascading Slopes and Ludwig Persik's residency there. Rumors and Twin Wave also play and advance tickets are available.

El Sportivo & The Blooz will also play another NYC show at The Gutter on March 9. They've got a couple LA shows this week as well and all tour dates are listed below...

Rachel w/ Sleepy Sun at ATP NY 2010 (more by Fred Pessaro // BBG)
Rachel Fannan

Rachel Fannan, formerly of Sleepy Sun and of her Birds Fled From Me project, has another project called Only You, which she just released the new single, "Applying Myself" b/w "Love Is Making Me Tired," via White Iris. The a-side, which you can watch the video for below, is a punchy tune that hearkens back to '60s pop rock and Rachel's voice is the right one for the task. If you like what you hear, you can pick up the vinyl at the White Iris webstore or get the single digitially via iTunes.

Video is below.

Line & Circle

Los Angeles' Line & Circle will be touring the East Coast this fall, including a stay in NYC during CMJ. No real specifics to speak of but they will play the White Iris showcase on October 18, wherever that ends up happening. More details will surface when we get closer to the fest (which is getting close!).

White Iris is the influential singles-only label that released early 7"s by Best Coast, Fidlar, Electric Guest and No, the latter two being Line & Circle's tourmates for the non-CMJ dates on the tour. The band's sound owes more than a little to jangly '80s American college rock bands like Miracle Legion, Grapes of Wrath (Canadian, I know), The Connells, The Reivers, and other bands who came along in R.E.M.'s wake. It's definitely a sound that hasn't been dug out by very many new bands lately. You can stream both sides of their White Iris single below.

As previously mentioned, Electric Guest and No play Irving Plaza on October 20. Tickets for that show are still on sale, though it looks like Jinja Safari opens that instead of Line & Circle.

A list of all Line & Circle tour dates and those song streams are below.
