Spiders (members of Graveyard/Witchcraft) are releasing a new album called Shake Electric on November 4 via Spinefarm Records (pre-order), and the video for the title track is premiering in this post. Like Graveyard and Witchcraft, the Swedish rockers hearken back to the stoner riffage of '70s hard rock and the howling Ann-Sofie Hoyles has the perfect voice for it. Check it out for yourself below.

Decibel Magazine has compiled their annual list of top 40 albums of the year. Pentagram circa 1981
Ask any doom metal fan about the true pioneers of the genre and two bands will be mentioned: Black Sabbath and Pentagram. One of those bands is to take the stage on March 6, 2009 for a rare show at Webster Hall. It's the legendary Pentagram and tickets go on sale Friday at noon!
Pentagram... was quite prolific in the underground scene of the 1970s, producing many demos and rehearsal tapes, but did not release a full-length album until reforming in the early 1980s with an almost completely new lineup. Throughout the band's history the only constant member has been vocalist Bobby Liebling. The revolving lineup of Pentagram has featured many well respected musicians in the local doom metal scene... -[Wikipedia]That "local" doom scene is in Maryland, which spawned MANY great doom-y bands including Clutch, Monster Magnet, Wino and his projects The Obsessed and Place Of Skulls (with a member of Pentagram), Earthride, and many many others.
Cult rock legend Bobby Liebling has been churning out genre defining and highly admired hard rock / doom metal for over 36 yrs. Drug addiction, band break ups, bad record deals, jail terms, chronic illness, Satanic blood sacrifices and various acts of self destruction haven't haulted him as he continues to claw his way to the top. This film in progress will highlight the triumphs and downfalls of the life of an underground icon. Experience his daily struggle as he attempts to not only succeed but to survive. In related Maryland doom news, Wino's new album Punctuated Equilibrium is out on Southern Lord on 2009 and features Jean-Paul Gaster of Clutch. Wino is also reforming his legendary doom band Saint Vitus at Roadburn.

Folkin' black proggers Agalloch has announced that they are at work on their fourth LP, the follow-up the the critically acclaimed Ashes Against The Grain! The band recently parted ways with The End and "have received several offers ranging from the ridiculous to the very interesting" with respect to a new home, but no decision is expected until 2009. Meanwhile, Agalloch also announced the release of The Demonstration Archive, a retrospective of songs from 1996 - 1998 before they signed to the label. For more info on The Demonstration Archive, including how to pick it up, head here.
As we announced a couple weeks ago, doomy instrumental trio Capricorns have released River Bear Your Bones in jolly old England, but the US will see the record on September 30th. Have no fear, as we have posted 25% of the whole record (above) for you to download!
World, Black Anvil. Black Anvil, world. I wish it was that easy, because word needs to get out on these grim lords constructed from ex-members of Kill Your Idols. Drawing from early black metal and thrash and with only an occasional foray into Emperor-style tremolo picking, their new LP Time Insults The Mind is an unholy creature of shadow. Check out "Ten Talons Deep" available for download above and the video of the band tearing through "Deathsomnia" (also from Time...). and pick up the record at Momentum Records when it drops. The band is also playing Traxx in Ronkonkoma on August 23rd and The Charleston on Sept 30th.
That video, plus Neurosis, Coalesce, Converge, Municipal Waste, Rosetta, sunn 0))), Corrupted and more after the jump...

Swede mages Witchcraft have a handful of planned dates trickling out, including a show at Bowery Ballroom on September 17th with compatriots (in nationality and inspiration) Graveyard and Brooklyn's own TK Webb & The Visions. Tickets go on sale August 1st at noon. Peep the list of dates so far, down below.
Witchcraft is also on board for Lollapalooza 2008 - the only band playing Lolla AND the dying Ozzfest in the same week. Unfortunately, like Radiohead and Rage Against The Machine, Witchcraft's performance won't be viewable from the live stream. Wilco, Broken Social Scene, The National, The Raconteurs, Stephen Malkmus, and many others will be though.
Witchcraft will also be intersecting with a Witch (minus the -craft) tour in LA with Ancestors. Starting September 19th, Graveyard is touring with The Sword and Clutch.
Ancestors have a new album on the way, Neptune With Fire, due on August 19th on Tee Pee. Ancestor, the new album by TK Webb & The Visions, is due September 2nd on Kemado. Dates below...

Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down, Kingdom Of Sorrow) has announced that Crowbar and the legendary Eyehategod will share the stage in New Orleans at One-Eyed Jack's on August 29th for their 20th anniversary show!
