One of the most eclectic lineups in the US, Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, NC, will be back for 2013 on September 5 -7. Pulling from all genres, this year's line-up includes names like Big Boi (who plays NYC tonight), Spiritualized, Sleep, Wolf Eyes (who have a new video), The Breeders (performing Last Splash), John Cale, Kurt Vile & the Violators, Gorguts, Inter Arma (who play NYC on Saturday), Double Negative (who played NYC this past weekend), Swearin' (them too), Pissed Jeans, Dan Friel, Waxahatchee and many many others. Three-day wristbands are on sale now with individual day tickets going on sale in June. Full lineup is below.

After a sellout forced a second show, Merzbow and Wold teamed up pair of appearances at Saint Vitus on June 4th. Both bands were on their way back from appearances in Tampa for Scion Rock Fest, their only other dates aside from these Saint Vitus shows. Pictures from both the early and late appearances are below.
Merzbow was not solo at the Saint Vitus show, as the Japanese noise artist was joined by drummer Balazs Pandi who provided the insane fills to help punctuate Merzbow's maddening atonal attack. Check out video of both Merzbow/Balazs Pandi's set and Wold's set below, along with both sets of pics.

Now comes word that the noise musicians will also make a stop over in NYC to play Saint Vitus on June 4th, a rare appearance for both and their only other US date so far. Tickets are on sale.

Church of Misery at Inferno Festival (more by BBG)

Scion Rock Fest have announced their first round of 2012 bands, including some very interesting and out-of-the-box choices. Among the announced so far include the impressive Repulsion, All Pigs Must Die, Merzbow, Sleep (who just played Roadburn), Church of Misery (them too, and they play NYC soon), and Oxbow, but the lineup also includes names like Terror, Psychic TV, and Cerebral Ballzy and more... bands that seem a bit out of the ordinary for a traditionally all-metal festival entering its fourth year. The show goes down on June 2nd across four venues in Tampa FL. As always, the show is free (with RSVP that opens on 4/20 at noon).
UPDATE: Full lineup has been released, check out the flyer and lineup below.
