Win Win

Win Win, a new crew featuring Devlin, XXXChange, and Ghostdad, have a self-titled LP due via Vice Records on Feb 15th. The LP features many guest shouts over its 15 songs including Lizzie Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dance (check out "ReleaseRPM" and its remix above and below), Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip (check out "Interleave" above and below), Matt Sweeney, Spank Rock, Andrew WK, and many others. Lizzie and Alexis will also be on hand to perform live with Win Win at their record release party at the Andrew WK co-owned Santos Party House on 2/15. The free show will take place downstairs at Santos while Odd Future is on the first floor ("limited tickets available at the door" for the sold out show).

Alexis Taylor also has a gig of his own scheduled a few days later. He'll bless the 1's and 2's at Brooklyn Bowl on 2/19.

Alexis Taylor has also been keeping busy with another new project...

"There are many surprising things indeed to be discovered in the course of listening to Start and Complete, the new album from About Group (out APRIL 26, 2011 on Domino Records), but perhaps none more so than the beautifully unorthodox genesis of the band itself.

Comprising Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Charles Hayward (This Heat), John Coxon (Spring Heel Jack, Spiritualized) and Pat Thomas, who has played with the likes of Derek Bailey, Tony Oxley and others, the band originally formed to make a record of improvised music for the Treader label in 2009, having never played together as a whole before the day it took them to make their first album. After a clutch of live performances (supporting Gang Gang Dance, playing Ornette Coleman's Meltdown Festival and even Glastonbury, among others) they regrouped to record this album. [Domino Records]

In May, Vice and Intel announced the Creators Project, an art & music series that would be hosting events in various cities and on its website. The NYC kick off for that will be Saturday, June 26th at Milk Studios and will include performances by Interpol, Mark Ronson, Die Antwoord, The Rapture, Sleigh Bells, Gang Gang Dance, Salem, N.A.S.A., Neon Indian, Lemonade and others, plus a "very special guest." The event is free; RSVP here. How big is the space exactly? They write that "the eight-floor art gallery and performance space will host thousands of people for live concerts, art exhibits, film screenings and panel discussions by leading artists and the next generation of innovators."

It's the first of five events in different cities- the others are slated for London, Sao Paulo, Seoul and a three-day event Beijing.

For Die Antwoord, it will be their first NYC show, making the July gig at Governors Island their second.

For Interpol, it will be the first time we see them with their new lineup (unless they announce something else soon).

"Finally out the hospital." - Zomby

"Damn... people are gettin at eachother's throats! this is crazy. Anyhow. I'm not sure which night was better... I ate some mushrooms the first night... so I didn't really enjoy dam funk's hour and a half long opening set... Black Dice were good as always, but should've been louder. It was much quieter than when I saw them at the Bowery.

The "re-worked comfy in nautica" is actually a new song called bleed... just for clarification. Personally I found the highlights to be the new Who Could Win A Rabbit and Chores, considering I hadn't heard them play those yet. Everything else was still awesome, though I could've done without daily routine, and IMO they threw away What Would I Want Sky too early.

The second night they opened with Grace... which I've wanted to see since the Grand Ballroom show, so I basically freaked out when I heard it. Also Frightened and #1 also made that set really awesome. All in all great end of the summer." [Anonymous]

Dam-Funk (who plays a free show at Trophy Bar Sunday night) opened both shows in Prospect Park. XXXCHANGE replaced Zomby on Saturday night's bill. Black Dice opened on Friday. Pictures and the setlist from that show HERE. More pictures and some videos from Saturday, below...
