Those three shows are not in Brooklyn, and they're not at the Studio at Webster Hall where KF has been promoting shows since their own space closed on New Years Eve. Those three shows are at 74 Leonard St., the very space that's apparently just been sitting there empty, but still fully functional, since they chose to close on December 31st even though their lease isn't up until July. Knitting Factory's new president Morgan Margolis realized the silliness of that, and has decided to reopen the club on select dates for special shows.

Six shows total are now on sale.

It was 1972, time of the cult-occult-commune explosion. By day, the Source Family served organic cuisine to John Lennon, Julie Christie, Frank Zappa and others at the famed Source restaurant. By night, in a mansion in Hollywood Hills, they explored the cosmos through the channeled wisdom of their charismatic leader, Father Yod. Father was an outlandish figure who had 14 "spiritual wives," drove a Rolls-Royce, and fronted the rock band Ya Ho Wha 13, now considered by collectors to be one of the most singular psychedelic bands of all time. This is Ya Ho Wha 13's only planned East Coast performance, and is not to be missed. [KNITTING FACTORY TONIGHT]

Members of Father Yod's Source Family will be stopping by Other Music to sign records and copies of the book The Source: The Untold Story of Father Yod, and to share some food made from the family's original recipes before their performance at the Knitting Factory later that night. Surely, to be one of the most unique psychedelic cult bizarro shows of the year!

Ya Ho Wa 13 also played some West Coast shows in November, which according to Pitchfork, were their first in 30 years.
