In today's "Oh yeah, that makes total sense" comedy news, it was just announced that Klaus Kinski All Time Favorite Kurt Braunohler has joined the upcoming Comedy Bang! Bang! tour and will be the master of opening ceremonies in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, Seattle and Portland (Oregon)(not Maine). Bad news though; the previously announced NYC August 7th show at the Highline Ballroom has sold out. GOOD NEWS though: a late show has been added! Tickets for that 10pm doors / 10:30pm show are on sale now but they are flying off the shelves. Git em! All dates are listed below.
As I mentioned earlier, Comedy Bang! Bang! is not only a superior podcast, but it's also a show on IFC that you can see Friday's at 10/9C. Mr. Braunohler is the host of comedy game show Bunk which you can see on IFC Friday nights at 10:30/9:30C. From an "industry" standpoint, you can see why the pairing makes sense. But from a Klaus Kinski standpoint, it makes sense because Aukerman and Braunohler are hilarious, and have been since waaaayyyyyyyy before their IFC shows. This is a great opportunity to see one of NYC's best share a bill with some of LA's best, and you can be damn sure there will be HELLA surprises and special guests. That's a promise to you, the BV reader, because that's who I am and that's who I care about. Full dates below.
And don't forget, you can see Kurt Braunohler all the freaking time in NYC, provided he is in town. As mentioned, his phenomenal show Night of the Living takes place every so often at Littlefield in Brooklyn. The next installment of Night of the Living takes place Friday June 29th and features Judah Friedlander, music by Amanda Palmer, and a screening of his show Bunk. Inexplicably, $10 tickets are still available. Kurt also co-hosts the great Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen which takes place Mondays at Littlefield. Hot Tub is SO MUCH fun and offer up an always eclectic roster of awesome guests.
Last month Kurt was a guest at Kevin Allison (of the State)'s show Risk! which goes down at the Pit in NYC. Check out the video below. Risk! happens again tonight (6/28), but this time with guests Mara Wilson, Jamie Lee, Lisa Kirchner, AND Tom Shillue (who tells funny stories) AND Simon Amstell (who we've been stalking since he landed in NYC)!
Also tonight in NYC: Yacht Rock Revue @ Canal Room.
Tons of local Kurt Braunohler dates, the video of him at Risk!, and all Comedy Bang! Bang! dates, below...

They are the only local team in any high school sport this season to carry a perfect record. The boys' soccer team from Coachella Valley High School is also ranked as one of the best in Division III.Coachella 2009 festival tickets are on sale (@ noon).
And that says something.
The Arabs, who won the CIF championship two years ago in Division IV, have been elevated to Division III this season and are the only team to post an unblemished record in the Top 10 as ranked by the Southern California Soccer Coaches Association.
Two years ago, in coach Adrian Barragan's first season, the Arabs were not perfect, but they won it all, finishing at 20-3-2.

You may recall that British Comedian Ricky Gervais has a handful of upcoming US dates including THREE at the WAMU Theater in July (and even some warm-up dates in LA just prior. I saw him last year and had a blast. Tickets for these shows are still on sale AND we've got some tickets to giveaway at the end of the post.

With the holidays fast approaching, nothing makes me happier than spreading holiday cheer by giving away free tickets to two awesome upcoming shows. First up are two pairs of tickets to A Very Special Night With Fred Armisen on November 29th at The Knitting Factory. The show will also feature Chelsea Peretti and Jon Glaser - one of the most brilliant comedians alive.
I also have two pairs of tickets to attend a special Yacht Rock event at the Knitting Factory on December 27. To me, Yacht Rock are the funniest videos ever to grace the internet, and if you haven't seen them, acquaint yourself immediately. The show, hosted by Yacht Rock creator JD Ryznar (Michael McDonald), includes a screening of all 10 episodes, as well as musical guests The School of Rock playing Yacht Rock Classics. YR cast members will also be in the house.
Details on how to win either contest, as well as more phenomenal upcoming shows, at the end of this post....
But first...I always heard a lot of great things about LA based comedian Brody Stevens but never actually took the time to familiarize myself with him. However, his recent contributions to the Comedy Death Ray profile on Superdeluxe have made me a huge fan. For those who don't know, Comedy Death Ray is a weekly "alternative" comedy show in L.A. founded by former Mr. Show writers/actors, Scott Aukerman and B.J. Porter - they created one of the best comedy CDs ever by the way. Anyhow, Brody's show is called The Brody Stevens Interview Challenge and the premiere episode features Zach Galifianakis. Watch Part 1 below, and head on over to Superdeluxe for Part 2. Keep checking back as more episodes are sure to surface.....
The big news around town has to be that British comedian Daniel Kitson has confirmed three shows at Union Hall on December 2, 3, and 4. Hailed as a favorite of comedians including David Cross and Eugene Mirman, Daniel Kitson doesn't get to the states enough. Like a jerk, the last time he was around I missed every single one of his appearances. I shan't make the same mistake twice. These shows are going to sell out for sure, so get tickets ASAP!.
Bobby Tisdale, co-Host of Invite Them Up, has a new bi-weekly show at Cake Shop called Llama Toe with Bobby and Friends. Co-Hosted by Reggie Watts, this show originally took place at Caroline's and man am I glad it's been moved to Cake Shop. 5 bucks, no minimum, no touristas.
