The Rival Mob

The Rival Mob, Give, and Hoax teamed for the second of two NYC Airfix Kits/Young Offenders shows this past weekend, the latter's only East Coast dates. Pictures from the 11/5 Acheron show are in this post.

The Rival Mob have a couple of dates scheduled in the coming months including 9/3 at The Bank Vault in Waltham, MA as part of a Triple-B showcase with Dead End Path, Free Spirit, Stick Together, GIVE, Soul Search, United Youth, Minus, Wolf Whistle, Sweet Jesus and more. They'll also be in Baltimore on 1/7 at Sonar as part of a free show called Mass Movement with Trapped Under Ice, Next Step Up, Down To Nothing, Foundation, Backtrack, Mindset, Suburban Scum, and many others. RSVP for that show.

Speaking of Suburban Scum, the band is preparing to release a new EP via 6131 Records (preorder it). Stream a track from that, "Hanging By A Thread", below alongside more pictures from Acheron....

San Francisco bands Airfix Kits and Young Offenders are swinging through NYC to play a pair of shows this weekend, hitting Union Pool tonight (11/4, not at Bruar Falls anymore, due to its recent closing) for a show with Freshkills & Only The Messengers and another show at Acheron on Saturday (11/5) with Rival Mob, Give and Hoax. The shows are the band's only East Coast appearances. Between both dates you'll be able to see bands that are both of the hardcore persuation (Acheron) and something that leans more punk/post-punk (Union Pool). More show details are below.

Both Hoax and Give are preparing releases with Painkiller Records, though details on both are still to be announced. In the meantime, check out some live video and song streams below, including a recent video for Freshkills' "The Wolves That Raised You" and some unreleased tracks...

Rorschach at The Charleston (more by Ryan Muir)
Rorschach

Last year's jaw-dropping lineup at Chaos In Tejas was sick, and 2010 is proving to be no different. For four days across four different Austin venues, May 27th to the 30th at Emo's, Mohawk, Red 7 and Beerland, the festival will offer some of the most impressive names in the independent/underground scene including the indestructible Rorschach, the first ever US appearance from Australian punk greats X, a one-time reunion of Japanese crust-core band Bastard, the quirky cutesy indie pop-punk of Grass Widow, Gehenna (who just played A389), Subhumans, Bastard Noise (who have a new record), Bone Awl, BV faves Jeff The Brotherhood, The Spits, Psychedelic Horseshit, Ty Segall, The Ponys, Iron Lung (who recently played Cake Shop), Poison Idea, Inquisition, and many many many others.

In addition to the obvious mayhem that will ensue over the four days, Chaos in Tejas will also showcase art from some of the scene's most interesting names including Tim Kerr (of Big Boys), Winston Smith (responsible for tons of collage work, including the Dead Kennedys best album art), and Bryan Ray Turcotte (best known for his book Fucked Up and Photocopied).

The full (and intimidating) list is below...
