Bonnaroo 2013 (more by Katherine Hansen)
As mentioned, Bonnaroo 2014 happens June 12 - 15 in Manchester, TN. The fest has already been dropping hints as to who's going to play this year (Kanye and Elton John seem likely as headliners) but will finally spill the beans tonight via a web show called "Blam!" which airs at 9 PM EST on Bonnaroo.com (or an Xbox app). (Maybe you watched last year's with Weird Al Yankovich and Portugal the Man.) This year's announcement special is hosted by SNL's Taran Killam and Broad City's Hannibal Buress, with a "superjam" between The Flaming Lips and Ben Folds.
There's also a pre-Blam! web event from 7 - 9 PM EST featuring live cover song performances from Tenacious D, Kings Of Leon, Phish, My Morning Jacket, and others.

Passion Pit / Vampire Weekend / Amanda Palmer / devoted fan
The final day of the fest gave us sets by a number of artists including Haim, Toro y Moi, Matt & Kim, Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, and Passion Pit, whose set was cut short. Reports Fuse...
On Sunday Passion Pit also had problems with their vocals, but in this case the culprit wasn't technical... it was allergies. We missed Toro y Moi and The Walkmen in part due to the rain that showed up that day too, but everything we did see is pictured in this post.
Clearly the Firefly fates have it in for Passion Pit. Last year the band had to cancel their performance at the fest so that frontman Michael Angelakos could undergo treatment for his bipolar disorder. This year they at least got to take the stage, but only for an abbreviated set.
Diving right in with "I'll Be Alright," "The Reeling" and "Carried Away," the band - and in particular drummer Nate Donmoyer and bassist Jeff Apruzzese - displayed a powerful musicianship that explodes in a live setting much more so than on record. Only after slowing things down for "To Kingdom Come" did Angelakos confess to the crowd that he needed help singing, because allergies had caused him to lose his voice. He also referenced last year's cancellation by saying he "can't catch a f-cking break with this festival."
Just seven songs in, Angelakos raised the white flag, admitting "I don't know how long I can go." At that point the band threw out their setlist and chose to "wrap this up with songs people know."
We at BrooklynVegan also took over a stage in the Soundwave tent with our hosts Dave Hill and Billy Jones each day from 1-3pm. On the Sunday of the festival we had Trails and Ways and Amanda Palmer stop by for live performances and interviews. They were both great, but naturally Amanda left us with the most to talk about, not just from the day but from the whole weekend. A loyal crowd showed up to see her at 2pm and she proceeded to take requests, play 'Happy Birthday' and the "best song she ever wrote" which ended up being 'The Truth'. She invited one lucky fan to play ukulele and that fan ended up being Sabrina who killed it with a Gotye cover. She ended her set with a group singalong to 'Creep' which started in our tent and ended in the middle of the field.

TOKiMONSTA at SS Coachella 2012 (more by Greg Cristman)
THUMP is VICE's new electronic site and they're celebrating the launch of Up Next, "the destination for what's next in dance music," with a free show in NYC on Hudson River Park's Pier 84 on June 20. (That's the old River Rocks spot.) The show is being headlined by Zedd, but it'd be worth stopping by for the openers, Duke Dumont and TOKiMONSTA. The show also will have "interactive fireworks inspired by the artists' music" and a custom LED structure for the artists to perform in. Plus, there's an open bar (so the show is 21+).
Duke Dumont just had his big single, "Need U (100%)" remixed by porn star Jessie Andrews (who doubles as DJ). Check out that remix (via Noisey) below...

Back in May, drill & bass master Squarepusher announced a North American tour which included a TBA NYC show set to happen on October 30. Well it turns out the NYC show will actually be on November 1 and it happens at Terminal 5 with a great list of openers; Bonobo (DJ), Holy Fuck, and Mount Kimbie. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/29) at noon with an AmEx presale starting today (6/27) at noon. All Squarepusher dates are listed below.
Squarepusher released his new album, Ufabulum, in May and it's a pretty solid one. It opens with "4001," which is just about the only song that sounds like classic Squarepusher, and is then followed by, "Unreal Square," which brings in a bit of brostep bass wobble. The rest of the album sees Squarepusher diving into nutty jazz fusion and unstoppable breakbeats. You can stream three of its tracks below.
Speaking of Mount Kimbie, they've signed to Warp, the label which Squarepusher also calls home, and currently at work on their second album which will be released on the label. The Terminal 5 show appears to be their only announced North American date at the moment.
Holy Fuck and Bonobo will be in NY even sooner for Camp Bisco, which goes down from July 12-14 at Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY. They'll be joining a lineup which includes Tycho, Simian Mobile Disco, Skrillex, Amon Tobin ISAM, Big Boi, Crystal Castles, Yacht, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Shigeto, FaltyDL, Thundercat, and more. Tickets for the festival are still available. The full lineup is listed below.
In related news, You can also catch Holy Fuck frontman Brian Borcherdt in NYC right after Bisco with his new project, Dusted, who play Glasslands on July 15. Tickets for that show are still available.
A list of all dates and song streams below...

Lollapalooza (more by Grant MacAllister)
Chicago Sun Times reports:
Lollapalooza has revealed its official 2012 list of performers -- a typically wide-ranging smorgasbord of genres and styles topped by nearly a dozen mainstage headliners: the Red Hot Chili Peppers, freshly reunited bands Black Sabbath and At the Drive-In, the Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine, the Shins and Passion Pit, plus spotlighted electronic music including Swedish house titan Avicii, French dance duo Justice and DJ-producer Bassnectar.Check out the full list below...
The annual music festival is scheduled for Aug. 3-5 in Chicago's Grant Park.
Rumored lineups have circulated widely, as they usually do, and Lollapalooza itself stoked the speculation in recent weeks via a series of CTA and online advertisements that seemed to hint at who would be playing.
The ads featured lyrics from such acts as Sigur Ros, Santigold, Jack White, Kimbra, Twin Shadow, the Weeknd, Bloc Party and more -- all bands that wound up on the bill.
