2013 NYC Village Halloween Parade (more by Chris La Putt)
This Halloween is something to be sureAnd there's an Andy Warhol, a Nico and a (tacky?) Lou Reed, with a halo...
Especially to be here without you
There's a Greta Garbo and an Alfred Hitchcock
And some black Jamaican stud
There's five Cinderellas and some leather drags
I almost fell into my mug
There's a Crawford, Davis and a tacky Cary Grant
And some homeboys lookin' for trouble down here from the Bronx
Though it took her 4+ years to complete, Corinna may just be the inspiration you need to be a Radiohead Bear this Halloween:
Thought it would be a great idea in 2003 to dress up as the Radiohead Bear for Halloween.Good luck. More pictures of the costume and info at Instructables.
It also served a purpose to distract me from some really bad and sad times.
Alas, it took another 5 years to create the complete suit.
Due to school, work, and life, I worked on it piece by piece every odd year:2003,2005,2007.
The idea is to be as 2 dimentional as possible, hence the flatness of the head, just like the logo.
Now it's an outfit I wear on Radiohead shows and I still have plans for it.
Recreated the body in 2008 so I can wear it in warm and hot times.
It's always a work in progress with constant maintenance.
Hope to you see you out in one at one of the many NYC shows this Halloween.
In too much of a rush? Can't really sew? Need something for HalloweMeme TONIGHT (10/24). Last minute Radiohead-themed costume ideas pictured below...
Hunx as Gayracula
All things considered, we hope you had a Happy Halloween. You already saw what John Vanderslice and Freelance Whales dressed up as, and Dum Dum Girls' nun costumes (Crocodiles in there too). We also already posted Deap Vally, Those Darlins & the Mountain Goats in Halloween attire, and you saw Vampire Weekend all decked out for Kimmel. Here's a whole bunch more. That's Hunx and a punx above. See the rest (sort of NSFW), below...
"I'm summoning all my party powers from above and below to channel them into your soul... Have the PARTIEST HALLOWEEN EVER!" - Andrew WK
Let's just forget (not really) about this hurricane thing for one second, and try to remember that today is also Halloween! What are you going to be? What were you for Hallowmeme? Need instructions on dressing as a Canadian Indie Musician? Are you dressing up your baby? And are you going to one of the limited NYC events still happening? Or will you just save your costume and hopefully wear it to the belated Halloween Parade that might happen next week.
As you can see in the photo above, BV photographer Chris La Putt (not actually him) found his costume and is going to be Instagram for Halloween (actually, he's stranded without phone, internet or power in Jersey City).
One CT resident got a Halloween-themed surprise when Sandy uncovered a human skeleton under a down tree. They think it was put there hundreds of years ago when the area was a burial ground.

Governor Cuomo is talking to press as we speak. The Daily News summarizes:
Gov. Cuomo announced that limited commuter rail service on Metro North and the Long Island Rail Road will begin at 2 p.m. today--and some subway service will follow tomorrow.NY1 says the subways most likely to come back soon are 4, 5, 2, 3 and F. Least likely: R, A, C, L, and 7. But they also point out things will be rerouted,
The subway service, he said, will be supplemented by a "bus bridge" from Brooklyn to Manhattan.
While he didn't specifically say which lines will be back up, he did explain that there will be no service in Manhattan below 34th Street because there is no power for that service.
Bus service is back up and running fully today in the city, he said.
Meanwhile, three of the seven East River tunnels have been pumped and are free of service.
More service will be up and running " on a day to day basis," he said.
Cuomo appealed for continued "patience and tolerance" from New Yorkers.
UPDATE, Pat Kiernan says Subways open Thursday:

I forgot the SNL appearance was happening...
I have to finish what I started, and I guess that would be compiling the world's biggest collection of people dressed as Amy Winehouse for Halloween. I was already up to 92 pictures. By the end of this post you'll have seen another 166. Some are great, and more than a few paired Amy with her boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil. This photo falls into both of those categories....
Even more looked less like Amy, and then there were many Amys that decided to hang out with Pete Doherty instead of Blake - a pairing that makes a lot of sense from the English musician drug addict tabloid point of view. This picture falls into both of those categories....
Pete Doggerty & Amy Doghouse
In related news,
After Amy Wino's hideous performance at the MTV Europe Awards last night, she was booed when she accepted an award for Artists' Choice. Pete Doherty immediately came to her defense. Then there was Amy with Lily Allen...
He was asked what advice he would give Wino, "I wouldn't give her any. She's fine. It's all bollocks. People should leave her alone. I went for a drink with her earlier today and she's totally fine. Perfectly healthy and happy.
"People are saying she's out of control, but she's not. She's a sensible girl and she knows what she's doing. She ain't doing nothing wrong." [dlisted]
and even Amy with M.I.A....
Now we'll get to more Amy's in a second, but first: To answer my own question, "no", Amy is no longer playing the MTVu Woody Awards or Saturday Night Live due to visa issues. Oh well - not a big loss considering how scary her last live appearance was. That video, and a zillion more Amy impersonators, below.....

The Sex Pistols played at the Roxy, and then they played again on Leno...
