Happy 10th anniversary to Rock the Bells, who have announced their initial, rotating 2013 lineup featuring hosts Peter Rosenberg & MURS 3:16, as well as names like Bone Thugs N Harmony, Danny Brown, Black Hippy (who just played NYC), Common, E40 & Too Short, Earl Sweatshirt (ditto), Flatbush Zombies, Juicy J (who played a Fader show on Monday and Irving Plaza last night), Rakim, Wu-Tang Clan (who play Summer Jam soon), Tyler the Creator (who just announced an NYC show as part of Odd Future), Eazy E, Ol Dirty Bastard and more. Confused? Yes, I did just say Eazy E and Ol Dirty Bastard, both of which will be "virtual performances" as part of the travelling festival. AllHipHop reports:
Ol Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E's spirits will return to the stage at Rock The Bells this year, AllHipHop has learned. So far only four dates exist for Rock the Bells. They're all listed below. Two of them are on the East Coast and one is in the NYC area at Meadowlands Racetrack in Rutherford, NJ on October 4-5. Tickets go on presale Thursday (10/16) at noon, and regular sale on Saturday.
The pair of Hip-Hop legends will have holograms performing this year at the 10-year anniversary of the rap festival.
Eazy-E will perform virtually with Bone Thugs-In-Harmony and ODB will rock with Wu Tang. Organizers said Eazy never blessed the Rock The Bells stage and ODB only did once.
Also, the "holograms" are approved by Eazy-E's wife Tomica Wright and Ol Dirty's mother, Cherry Jones.
Tupac's Coachella appearance inspired the new virtual performances at Rock The Bells, organizers admitted.

The annual festival in Memphis, Tennessee will go down on Sept 26 -29 and play host to sets from names like Mudhoney, Destruction Unit, legendary Aussie punks Cosmic Psychos, related act The Onyas, plus CC Riders, Head, Cheap Time and Buck Biloxi & the Fucks, with many many more still to be announced. Ticketing info is also still TBA.
Speaking of Mudhoney and anniversaries, the band must be the go-to for weddings, bar mitzvahs, retirement parties and special celebrations at this point. Mudhoney is also on board to play the upcoming silver anniversary of Sub Pop in Seattle in addition to a few other tour dates, though rumors of an additional appearance at an NYC area bris outside of their previously discussed their two NYC shows is yet unconfirmed. Tickets are still available for that May 11 show at Music Hall of Williamsburg and May 12 show at Bowery Ballroom.
While Sub Pop officially began in 1986, their offices opened in 1988 which they're using as an excuse to celebrate royally:

Lindsay Lohan in practical desert wear at Coachella 2012
During the last minute plea talks between Lindsay Lohan's attorney, Mark Heller, and prosecutors handling her lying to cops case, the wayward actress told him to keep her out of rehab until AFTER the Coachella music festival so she could attend...The online site is hinting that it may be related to a budding romance that LiLo has with an "NYC musician and club promoter," but that is just supposition. Or maybe she's just trying to fit in one last desert party before the rehab gets its hooks in her. #priorities
"Lindsay was adamant that she not be forced to go to rehab until after the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the Palm Springs area on successive weekends in April. Lindsay LOVES going to the musical festival, and she's determined to go this year. She didn't want a little thing like rehab to get in her way of attending. Linds refused to sign off on any deal that would have prevented her from going to Coachella, period. Yes, it's that important to her, for some strange reason," -[RadarOnline]

I guess it comes as a surprise to no one that ATP's NYC event I'll Be Your Mirror will not return in 2013 considering last year's turnout and the problems related to the company and the venue. That said, its sad nonetheless... I personally saw some amazing sets from the likes of Godspeed, The Make-Up & Hot Snakes during my one night at the fest. Hopefully this will mean a leaner and meaner event for 2014, but I guess that remains to be seen.
