Baby New Year

Love it or loathe it, New Year's Eve is coming. Here are some of this year's NYC concert options, of which there are many.

One of the biggest shows of the night is Coldplay and Jay-Z at Barclays Center. If you've seen pictures of Coldplay's tour this year, you know they have this bluetooth controlled, light-up wristbands that (no matter how you feel about their music) makes for a spectacular interactive experience. And certainly Jay-Z will throw a good party at his own house.

Jay-Z's pal Kanye West is doing a three-night run in Atlantic City right before NYE (12/28-30) at Revel. Tickets for those shows are still available.

Another hip hop option includes Nas at Radio City Music Hall that also features Elle Varner. Tickets are still available.

Azealia Banks is playing a black tie party on top of The Standard Hotel (aka Boom Boom Room). More info is at the facebook event. You can RSVP for tickets ($250 minimum) by emailing unifiedpromo@unifiedpromo.com.

Also in the biggest NYE show race there is also Phish's sold-out night at MSG, part of a four night run at the venue.

If jam bands are your thing, you might also want to catch The Disco Biscuits, who kick off their four-night run at Best Buy Theater tonight (12/26) and then play NYE at The Theatre at MSG (tickets).

Another jammy option is Gov't Mule's two-night run at Beacon Theatre (12/30-31). Tickets for both nights are on sale.

If you're more into dancing, RJD2 will be DJing at Gramercy Theater with Com Truise and Chrome Sparks; and Moby and many others will be DJing at an as-yet undisclosed location (tickets).

Pretty Lights is also doing two sold nights at Roseland Ballroom (12/30-31). Another dance option that you might want to avoid is Afrojack is playing two nights on Pier 94 (12/30-31), but it's worth mentioning that if you get there early on night 1, you can catch opening sets by Diplo and Rusko. Night 2 (aka NYE) is sold out but night 1 is still on sale.

Brooklyn dance party The Bunker is throwing an event at the 70 N 6 St loft (above Public Assembly) with John Roberts, Mike Parker, Bryan Kasenic, and Mike Servito. Tickets for that party are on sale now.

Downstairs at the actual Public Assembly, Gaze 4 Daze is throwing two queer parties. Room 1 has DJ sets by Rizzla, Sebastian, and D'Hana, along with Emcee Ryann Supamakenzi and host Cherlyn. In room 2, they've got MIchael Magnan, Amber Valentine, Telfar, Mursi Layne, host Helen Harris, and live performances by House of Ladosha, Cakes Da Killa, and Abdu Ali. $10 at the door gets you into both parties.

Brooklyn warehouse party group Rubulad is presenting "Party-Go-Round" in three separate secret Bushwick locations near the Jefferson L stop. There will be live music by Friend Roulette, Not Waving but Drowning, Viva, and more; dance parties with music by DJ Shakey, Ol' Stark, DJ Mojo, $mall ¢hange and more; a puppet show, a midnight champagne toast, and more. Admission is $20, the events start at 9 PM, and there will be a party bus to navigate between the three locations.

Matthew Dear and Superpitcher are at Le Bain (tix); Ian Pooley, Pat Mahoney and more at Cameo; Onra, Nick Catchdubs, and Samo Sound Boy are at Williamsburg's Villian (tickets).

Holy Ghost! and Midnight Magic are at Brooklyn Bowl (sold out) and after that, Holy Ghost!'s DFA labelmate Juan Maclean will DJ an afterparty at the same venue (tickets).

Chris Keating of Yeasayer is DJing a BangOn!NYC-presented party at a secret warehouse location in Williamsburg near the Montrose L stop with Felix Cartal, Chordashian, Alex English, Sean Glass, and many others. There will also be live music by Carousel, Suntalk, and more TBA, art installations, an inflatable obstacle course, food trucks, and more. Tickets (more info at that link) are on sale and RSVP is open. Location will be revealed with the purchase of tickets or an RSVP.

If you'd rather dance to classic soul and R&B, there's New York Night Train Annual Dusk Till Dawn New Year's Ball at Home Sweet Home featuring a live performance from Kid Congo and the K-Holes, plus Jonathan Toubin and a crew of DJs.

For the indie rock inclined, you could go see Titus Andronicus at Glasslands which is a pretty small venue for them these days. While So So Glos were originally on the bill for this, they have since dropped off. Dapwell, formerly of Das Racist, is your MC for the evening and tickets are still available.

Right next door at 285 Kent, Florida's (awesomely) mopey Merchandise will visit,  plus Blanche Blanche Blanche, Tonstartssbandht and "speciial guests" (note the two ii's is "speciial") will surely be a wild night. Dive in, tickets ($20) are on sale now.

After that, DJ Rashad, DJ Manny, Sasha Go Hard, and others will play an afterparty at 285 Kent (tickets).

Psychic Ills and Herb Craft are playing Saint Vitus. Tickets for that show are on sale.

Also happening in Williamsburg, They Might be Giants play a sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg (one of three shows there that week; Reverend Vince Anderson and His Love Choir will be at Union Pool (free); and at Knitting Factory it's a night of cabaret hosted by the great Murray Hill (tix).

More indie rock: Blonde Redhead and Beach Fossils are at Irving Plaza. Tickets are still available and you can also win a pair from us.

Swimming Cities and Gowanus Ballroom (55 9th St) are presenting The First Party Ever: Primal Reset for the Year Zero with dance parties by Barney Iller, DJ Shakey, and DJ Tinseltown; live music at midnight by Stumblebum Brass Band; an open bar from 11:30-12:30; visuals; "Serret's patented coal fire hot tub time machine"; "Live birth of the antichrist, according to Doctor Adventure"; and more. $15 tickets are on sale now (or $20 at the door, cash only) and all proceeds go to recovery at Serret Metal Works and the "BOATEL" art hotel project in Far Rockaway that were damaged during Hurricane Sandy.

Meanwhile across the Hudson, The Hold Steady will ring in 2013 with Lucero at The Wellmont Theatre in NJ. Tickets are still available.

Before that, Lucero will do a two-night run at Brooklyn Bowl (12/28-29) with Nude Beach supporting on night 1 and Hollis Brown on night 2. Tickets for night 1, night 2, or both are still available.

Amanda Palmer will be at Terminal 5, playing Prince's Purple Rain in its entirety which will surely be a spectacle. She'll play a set of originals too. Tickets are still available.

If you'd like to party like it's 1929, Spirit Family Reunion are bringing the old time religion to Pianos. Tickets are still available, includes a champagne toast.

More rootsy options include The Punch Brothers and Michael Daves at Bowery Ballroom (sold out); and The Felice Brothers, Yellowbirds, and Mail the Horse at Mercury Lounge (sold out).

The Felice Brothers also play Maxwell's (12/30) a day earlier (sold out), and on New Year's Eve, the Hoboken venue will host "Maxwell's Rockin' & Rollin' Ass Kickin' New Year's Eve Dance Party feat. The Two Giants: Todd-O-Phonic Todd & Mono-O-Phonic Matt Porter." They get their name from being big San Francisco Giants fans, and they'll be spinning "some of the greatest soul, r'n'b, garage, rock'n'rol etc" all night. Admission is totally free, no cover.

My Morning Jacket is doing a sold out pre-New Year's Eve three-night run (12/27-29) at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.

After that, Capitol Theatre will host Steve Miller Band on 12/30 (tickets) and funky METERS with Dumpstaphunk on NYE (tickets).

For some old school punk, Manitoba (the project of Dictators frontman Dick Manitoba) and Sylvain Sylvain (of New York Dolls) will play Bowery Electric with The A-Bones and Daddy Long Legs. Tickets for that show are on sale.

To keep the party going the next day, head to SOB's for Questlove's holiday party.

Whatever you end up doing, be safe!.

What did we miss?

Heading to Austin? We have a list of shows happening there too. Update: And Chicago too.

Sasha Go Hard at Santos in September (more by Julie Schabel)
Sasha Go Hard

You already know that Merchandise, Tonstartssbandht, Blanche Blanche Blanche, and "speciial guests" are playing 285 Kent on New Year's Eve (tickets) and that Titus Andronicus is playing next door at Glasslands (tickets). If you're headed to either of those shows to ring in the new year, and you're looking for some convenient after party plans once it turns 2013, stick around because footwork master DJ Rashadis DJing back to back with collaborator DJ Manny, fellow Chicagoan Sasha Go Hard (who first came to NYC in September and then played 285 Kent during CMJ), secret Body High guest, J-Cush, and Durban will be going all night at 285 Kent (doors: 1 AM). Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Rashad and Manny recently posted a clip of a new song with two of their other collaborators, DJ Spinn and DJ Kidd, along with the message, "COMING SOON TEKLIFE 2013 SHIT!!!!!" You can stream that song below.

Also below is a stream of "Where Have You Been?," a track Sasha Go Hard recently cut with Freddie GIbbs for Freddie's upcoming project, East Side Slim (via FakeShoreDrive).

Merchandise at WIERD in September (more by Phil Maier)
Merchandise

We've got about two weeks to go and still more New Year's Eve options for NYC are getting announced every day. Just yesterday it was announced that Titus Andronicus are playing Glasslands that night (tickets) and now we just found out that Tampa post-punks Merchandise will be next door at 285 Kent with Arbutus Records-signed duo Tonstartssbandht and Vermont psych pop duo Blanche Blanche Blanche. (We're hoping Merchandise will have hired a drummer by then.) The bill also features "speciial guests," and we're not sure who the special guest is, but we couldn't help but notice they spelled "speciial" with two I's. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

A list of all Merchandise dates and a video below...

As you may remember, Brooklyn old time folk revivalists Spirit Family Reunion released their debut album over the summer and sounds more like something from the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack than something from their NYC borrough in 2012. You can stream the whole thing below. The band recently appeared on long-running NPR show Mountain Stage (taped in West Virginia) alongside Dr. Dog, the Mountain Goats, Nellie McKay, and Red Wanting Blue and that episode airs this week, check here for a station near you and look for the episode to go up on their archive next week.

Meanwhile, Spirit Family Reunion have a few live shows coming up, including New Year's Eve in NYC, playing Pianos with Christopher Paul Stelling. Tickets are $15 and include a champagne toast at midnight.

The band were also kind enough to send us their Top 10 LPs of 2012 and if you're expecting a bunch of Bill Monroe reissues on the list, you'd be wrong. Their list includes Ty Segall and Leonard Cohen who maybe they're going to see tonight at Madison Square Garden? Check out their full list below, along with a stream of their album and a list of all upcoming tour dates.

Titus

Titus Andronicus, who just played tiny Hoboken club Maxwell's as part of Yo La Tengo's annual Hanukkah week extravaganza, are set to play another small gig. The band are set to headline a New Year's Eve show at Glasslands that also features So So Glos. Tickets are $25 and just went on sale.

RDJ2

Instrumental hip hop producer RJD2, who has a handful of solo material along with a number of collaborations with rappers in the Def Jux/Rhymesayers realm (among other things), will be celebrating New Year's Eve in NYC with a show at Gramercy Theater (12/31) with Com Truise and Chrome Sparks (DJ). Tickets for that show are still available and we also have two pairs to giveaway. Details on how to win are below.

In more year-end celebrations for RJD2, we spoke to him about his top ten things of 2012. Only four of them are albums and only three of those albums came out this year, but it's a pretty awesome list and you can check out the entire thing below.

Amanda Palmer

The always talented and controversial - mostly because she isn't afraid to try new things and speak her mind (especially on Twitter), Amanda Palmer, is playing a massive New Year's Eve show at NYC's Terminal 5 where she and The Grand Theft Orchestra will be performing Prince's Purple Rain in its entirety in addition to her original songs (get your tickets - regular or VIP).

Meanwhile, we asked Amanda to list her favorite 10 musical things from 2012, and you can see what she listed and watch her new NSFW video for "Do It With a Rockstar", below...

Craig Finn w/ The Hold Steady in NYC in 2011 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Craig Finn

Listen to the references he makes in his lyrics or read an interview with him and you know that Craig Finn (of The Hold Steady) has a wide range of taste, and that isn't lost on his list of the top ten records of 2012, which bounces from underground rapper El-P to folk legend Bill Fay to non-stop rockers Japandroids. Of the list, Craig says, "A lot of my friends made really great records this year. To keep myself sane, I've created a list of my top ten records by people I don't know personally. Compiled quickly, probably with some ommisions." You can check the whole thing out below.

Craig will be taking part of the Soundtrack Series in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge this Friday (11/30) along with Cynthia Kaplan, Jenny Rubin, Daniel Ralston, Steve Zimmer, and host Dana Rossi. The event description reads, "Five artists-writers, comics, actors and musicians-tell the stories they forever connect with songs from their past. There's the song, the story behind the song, and the story inspired by the song. We're the third one." Craig will be doing his on "I Will Dare" by the Replacements. Tickets for that are on sale now.

Meanwhile watch Craig on the Chris Gethard show TONIGHT (11/28).

As mentioned, The Hold Steady will play Wellmont Theatre on New Year's Eve with Lucero. Since we last spoke, comedian Kurt Braunohler has been added to that bill as well. Tickets for the show are still available.

Craig Finn's top 10 albums of 2012 list is below...

Dale Crover w/ Melvins Lite in October (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Dale Crover

Dinosaur Jr. just keep adding more alternative rock royalty to their upcoming You're Living All Over Me 25th anniversary show, which happens in NYC at Terminal 5 on December 1. They've already announced Johnny Marr (of The Smiths), Kim Gordon (of Sonic Youth), and Al Cisneros (of Sleep), and now they've added Dale Crover (of Melvins) too. Kurt VIle, who carries the torch that those musicians all helped light well, opens the show and tickets are still available.

Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis is also one of the many guests appearing on the third season of Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen's IFC show, Portlandia, which returns on January 4 at 10pm ET/PT, prefaced by a pre-premiere episode on December 14 at 10:30pm ET/PT. In addition to J, other guests include Dirty Projectors, Jim Gaffigan, Patton Oswalt, Roseanne Barr, Juliette Lewis, George Wednt and more. You can check out the full list of guests for season three and a video clip of the upcoming season below.

Speaking of Melvins, they're playing a New Year's Eve show in LA at The Alexandria with Redd Kross, who released their first new album since reuniting in 2004 this year. Tickets for the LA show are on sale now.

Holy Ghost

As mentioned, Lucero plays two nights at Brooklyn Bowl (one with Nude Beach) before playing New Year's Eve at Wellmont Theatre with The Hold Steady. But Brooklyn Bowl will host a very different type of show on New Year's Eve, when DFA duo-turned-live-band Holy Ghost! plays a set with special guests. $45 tickets for the Holy Ghost! show are on sale now.

Like Kanye West, who also celebrates New Year's Eve in the NYC area, Holy Ghost! were scheduled to play UR1 Festival in Miami (12/8-9). However, Miami New Times is reporting that the festival will be postponed due to predictions of heavy winds that weekend (via Pitchfork).

Holy Ghost! released a new single, "It Gets Dark," at the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair last month, and have since put the track out digitally. The track is pretty great and you can stream it below.

Kanye at MoMA in 2011 (more by Bao Nguyen)
Kanye West

Kanye West came to Atlantic City's Revel Ovation Hall for two sold out shows this past July and he must have had a good time, because he plans to return to the venue for three nights right before New Year's Eve: December 28, 29, and 30. Tickets for all three nights go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 30 at noon with a Citi cardmember presale starting Tuesday (11/27) at 10 AM, and Revel and TIcketmaster presales starting Thursday, November 29 at 10 AM.

Kanye also plays the huge Sandy benefit at MSG on 12/12/12 and UR1 Festival in Miami this month (UPDATE: UR1 Festival is postponed). All upcoming dates are listed below.

Being that Kanye only plays the three days leading up to New Year's Eve, it means that Jay-Z will potentially be available all three of the dates and Kanye will be free when Jay plays Brooklyn at Barclays Center on NYE (12/31) with Coldplay. Tickets for that show are still available.

A list of all Kanye dates and a stream of his recent track, "White Dress," from RZA's The Man With The Iron Fists soundtrack, below.

RJD2's record collection?
RJD2

RJD2's NYC New Year's Eve show at Gramercy Theater, which is on sale now, will be with Com Truise and Chrome Sparks (who will DJ). Chrome Sparks (not to be confused with Chrome Canyon or Chrome Cranks) meanwhile can be found at Glasslands on 12/14 with producer Gigamesh (whose tour also brings to the Delancey one night earlier). Com Truise has no other shows scheduled at the moment.

RJD2 recently created a Spotify playlist of songs he's been listening to lately, and filmed a new video as part of T-Mobile sponsored series called "Life Without Limits". In it he talks about his career, and basically how he lives his life. You can watch that, along with more dates for artists mentioned above, below...

Blonde Redhead at Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011 (more by BBG)
Blonde Redhead

Long running NYC dream rockers Blonde Redhead were last seen repping NYC at the Brooklyn Sweden Festival on their 2012 international late summer/fall tour, but they haven't actually played a local show in over a year. So it should be a treat when the band rings in the new year with a show at Irving Plaza on New Year's Eve (12/31). Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (11/9) at 10 AM with Live Nation Mobile App, Live Nation, and Music Geeks presales starting Thursday (11/8) at 10 AM. VIP tickets include "front of the line access, VIP area in the balcony, poster, and champagne toast." It's the band's only announced show at the moment.

Blonde Redhead's most recent release was 2010's Penny Sparkle. A 4AD Session video of the band playing "Here Sometimes" from that album is below.

Andrew WK at Webster Hall in April (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Andrew WK

Assuming we all survive the apocalypse, Halloween is Wednesday (10/31), and as you know there are plenty of ways to celebrate in NYC. Another recently announced option is the Halloween Hellraiser at new Greenpoint warehouse Autumn Bowl with professional partier Andrew WK. He'll be joined by Creep (DJ), Ice Balloons, DJ Dog Dick, and more artists TBA. Tickets for the show are on sale now. A gif flyer for the show is below. UPDATE: Halloween show cancelled.

Andrew WK has been keeping busy in NYC the last couple of weeks, having just taken part in a bunch of CMJ events and appeared as one of the guests at Petty Fest. He's also got two events happening close to NYC right before New Year's Eve. He plays Stanhope House on December 29 in NJ (tickets) and Ollie's Point on December 30 in Long Island (tickets). Maybe he'll add a show happening on New Year's Eve in NYC?

Meanwhile, Autumn Bowl has been hosting few but solid shows since opening. Maybe you caught Zomby (10/18) or Kyp Malone (10/20) there during CMJ? Or this past Friday when Four Tet and Jamie xx DJed back to back? If you've been to the new venue, how is it?

A list of all Andrew WK dates, the Halloween show flyer, and a recent live video are below.

Phish

NYC hippies have all the luck:

Phish will play four shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden this December, marking its third consecutive New Year's run at the legendary venue. The series of concerts will begin on Friday, December 28, and conclude on New Year's Eve. Phish has played 23 dates at Madison Square Garden since December 1994.

"It's not the ball drop, but for tens of thousands of people, Phish's annual run of shows at Madison Square Garden...is the more significant year-end event in Manhattan," The New York Times' Jon Pareles observed. Reviewing Phish's 2011 New Year's Eve concert, American Songwriter noted: "[the] night saw the band going for broke...Balloons rained from the ceiling, and Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon levitated above the stage on platforms, and several dancers took to the air on wires..."

An online ticket request period is currently underway at http://tickets.phish.com. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, October 20, at Noon ET at http://www.ticketmaster.com or can be charged by phone at 866.858.0008. If tickets are still available, they may be purchased at the venue box office beginning Monday, October 22. Box office hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 AM - 6 PM. Tickets may also be purchased at select Ticketmaster outlets. For further details, visit http://phish.com.

Ticket prices for each specific date will include a free MP3 download of the evening's entire show (a fully mixed soundboard recording) that can be redeemed at www.LivePhish.com shortly after the band steps off stage.
Other NYC New Year's Eve options include Amanda Palmer and The Felice Brothers.

Punch Brothers at Rockwood Music Hall in February (more by David Andrako)
Punch Brothers

The New Year's Eve options just keep coming. Today the announcement comes that bluegrass crew Punch Brothers will do a three-night run in NYC at Bowery Ballroom from December 29-31. The NYE run in NYC comes at the end of an extensive tour that the Punch Brothers will kick off at the end of this month. That tour includes a show as part of the New Yorker Festival which happens at Gramercy Theatre on October 5 and two days after that the band will play another NYC area gig at The Paramount on October 7 in Huntington. Amanda Palmer at Webster Hall - 9/11/12 (via theculturewhore)
Amanda Palmer

Yesterday, we had a ton of New Year's Eve show announcements. Here's another one: Amanda Palmer and her band the Grand Theft Orchestra, who just played a show at Webster Hall last night (9/11), will take over Terminal 5 on New Year's Eve (12/31). Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, September 21 at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday, September 19 at noon.

Amanda's Webster Hall show last night was with The Simple Pleasure, Jherek Bischoff, and Ronald Reagan. If you weren't at the show, maybe you watched the webcast at Amanda's YouTube channel? The show was pretty wild and relied most heavily on material from her new album, Theatre Is Evil, for which the show was a release party for.

She also played a couple Dresden Dolls songs and did some covers, including Yaz's "In My Room," Wham!'s "Careless Whisper" and, wait for it... "Call Me Maybe!" During Theatre Is Evil track, "Bottomfeeder," Amanda dove into the crowd, draping the audience in a huge canvas that she was wearing as a skirt. If this is how Amanda celebrates a record release show, things are probably looking pretty nuts for New Year's Eve.

Her tour continues in DC tonight. An updated list of dates, a video of Amanda crowd surfing, and the setlist from last night's show are below.

Continue reading "Amanda Palmer played Webster Hall, playing Terminal 5 on New Year's Eve (setlist, video & updated dates)"

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 14 at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (9/12) at noon.

Additionally, The Felice Brothers will play Maxwell's the day before (12/30) and tickets for that show are on sale now. Meanwhile, Ian Felice will play solo in an opening set for Conor Oberst at Carnegie Hall on November 21 and tickets for that show are still available.

All Felice Brothers tour dates are listed below.

Lucero at BV-SXSW 2012 (more by Tim Griffin)
Lucero

The Hold Steady and Lucero, who have a history together and are no strangers to New Year's shows in the NYC area, will be teaming up for a NYE (12/31) show at Wellmont Theatre. Tickets for what is sure to be a very drunk and wild night go on sale Friday (9/14) at noon.

UPDATE: Lucero are also playing two nights at Brooklyn Bowl a few days before NYE (12/28-29). Individual tickets (12/28 and 12/29) as well as two-day passes go on sale Friday, September 21 at noon.

The Wellmont show is yet another addition to the growing amount of NYE options in NYC and the surrounding area. So far, options include Nas at Radio City, My Morning Jacket in Boston, and They Might Be Giants' 3-night run at MHOW. The Disco Biscuits are also doing a NYE run in NYC, with four nights at Best Buy Theater from December 26-29 and NYE (12/31) at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Tickets for all 5 Disco Biscuits shows (and a 4-day pass option for the Best Buy Theater shows) go on sale Friday (9/14) at 1 PM, with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (9/12) at 10 AM and an AEG Live presale starting Thursday (9/13) at 11 AM for the Best Buy Theater shows.

Lucero recently made a 10+ minute mini-documentary about the making of this year's Women & Work album, and also recently made what is their first music video ever for that album's title track. About the video, frontman Ben Nichols said, "Our fans have made videos over the years, we've never made one ourselves until now. Why? Basically because we're unorganized and lazy." You can watch their mini-documentary and the music video, along with a list of Lucero dates and Hold Steady dates, below.

Nas at Rock The Bells 2011 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Nas

Life is good indeed. Nas will ring in the New Year in style, joined by Elle Varner when he takes to the stages of Radio City Music Hall on December 31 for a one-off show at the venue. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday (9/14) at noon... which, coincidentally, is Nas's 39th birthday.

Nas recently played Rock The Bells and is scheduled to take on Virgin Mobile Freefest outside of DC in early October.

Hopefully this show goes better for the Queensbridge MC than the New Year's show he was supposed to appear at in Angola.

My Morning Jacket at Williamsburg Park in August (more by David Andrako)
My Morning Jacket

As mentioned, My Morning Jacket, who were in NYC for a show at Williamsburg Park, will return to the area at the end of the year for a three-night run at Port Chester's Capitol Theatre from December 27-29. The shows will be part of the band's Spontaneous Curation Series, where you can help pick what songs they play, and MMJ promise not to repeat songs on different nights. There will also be TBA guests at each night. Those shows were announced over a month ago and they just finally were given ticket links. Tickets for all three nights go on sale Friday (9/14) at noon.

Two days after that run ends, My Morning Jacket will play a New Year's Eve show at Boston's Agganis Arena (12/31) with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who they've collaborated with in the past. This one won't be part of the curation series. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (9/14) at noon with a venue presale starting Thursday (9/13) at 10 AM.

As discussed, MMJ will also be in the NYC area for a Levon Helm tribute at the Izod Center on October 3 in East Rutherford, NJ with Ray LaMontagne, Mavis Staples, Lucinda Williams, Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, Jorma Kaukonen, and more. Tickets for that show are still available.

All dates are listed below...
