Chicago's Headlights are currently on a short tour with The Love Language. The pair plays a Friday, April 24th show at Brooklyn's Bell House with Modern Skirts. Tickets are on sale.

Headlights are currently at work on the follow-up to their last LP, 2008's Some Racing, Some Stopping. In 2008, the band also released a remixes record -- a limited-edition vinyl pressing of that will be out May 19th on Polyvinyl. The third track from that release, Headlights' "Market Girl" re-worked by the Album Leaf, is posted above along with the more commonly posted TJ Lipple remix of "Cherry Tulips". Full tracklist below.

The Album Leaf has a new disc coming out as well. That record, currently scheduled for a fall 2009 release on Sub Pop, will be the first full-band album by the Album Leaf (formerly the solo project of Jimmy LaValle). The band wrote on its Myspace that the new disc will be "recorded with the full live band (everyone you've seen playing live since 2003) and not just Jimmy."

Headlights played two new tracks from their forthcoming record at a hometown gig in March. Video below with all tour dates...

This Saturday, April 11th, Yeah Yeah Yeahs will perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Zac Efron hosts. This past Saturday's episode featured Paris's Phoenix. Videos from that show HERE.

In related news, "Zero," the first single off the band's new record It's Blitz, has so far been remixed by MSTRKFRFT, N.A.S.A., and Animal Collective (and probably others). If you haven't heard them already, the first two versions are streaming below. The third, Animal Collective's reworking, is out as the b-side of a limited-edition "Zero" 7" single - free when you buy/bought the album from Insound.

The band's upcoming shows include Coachella and Bonnaroo, and All Points West.

After a cease & desist put the breaks on Amplive's Radiohead In Rainbows remix project, the online music community reasonably wondered if the tracks would ever see the light of day. Today comes an answer: they most definitely will. While the Oakland producer/DJ acknowledges that he probably should have contacted Radiohead (who were not involved in the project) to seek approval prior to making his interpretations publicly available, an agreement has been reached between all involved parties and Amplive has been granted permission to release Rainydayz Remixes for free to the general public.

What about the possibility of remixes? Mirrored sounds like an LP crying out for a series of awesome remixes, if you get what I mean…

We’re totally open to that – ‘Atlas’ had a remix on it. Actually, it would be cool to get a whole remix album of Mirrored, that’s a good idea.

In recent years, everyone from Death From Above 1979 to Architecture in Helsinki to Bloc Party have succumbed to the temptation to create indie remix albums. Now we're faced with Stars' Do You Trust Your Friends?, which we may someday see as the tipping point from indie rock remix albums being idle, indulgent fan-club novelties to becoming inescapable annoyances.
