"Merge Records is an independent record label based in Durham, North Carolina. Merge was originally founded in Chapel Hill, North Carolina by Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance in 1989 as a way to release singles and cassettes from their band Superchunk, and music created by friends. The first Merge full-length release came on April 1, 1992 with MRG020 Superchunk - Tossing Seeds, the band's first collection of singles." [Wikipedia]

BrooklynVegan Blog Radio airs on Sirius Satellite's Left of Center on Tuesday nights @ 10 pm EST, and I think they re-run it on Friday at the same time.
Tripwire must have my computer bugged (wired?). I spent a significant amount of time last night researching Matt Suggs' new Merge-signed band White Whale in preparation for a post today. I even started writing it until I noticed one of Tripwire's latest headlines pop-up: "Band to Watch: White Whale".

Luckily Tripwire didn't post the same track. Music for Robots did, but that was over three months ago (natch). Said the Gramophone posted a third track in March, but that's gone now too. There's four tracks streaming at MySpace. Too bad I missed them at SXSW.
White Whale is:
Matt Suggs (Matt Suggs, Butterglory)
Rob Pope (The Get Up Kids)
John Anderson (Thee Higher Burning Fire)
Zach Holland (Thee Higher Burning Fire)
Dustin Kinsey (Thee Higher Burning Fire)
