King Dude @ Home Sweet Home

King Dude played his first NYC show with a full band in tow at Home Sweet Home on April 11th as part of "Wierd Wednesdays" at Home Sweet Home. The show was a rare one-off on the East Coast for the Seattle-based goth artist, and one of a very small number of shows for TJ Cowgill (also Book of Black Earth) overall, though you can catch him in Austin at Chaos in Tejas this year as part of a bill that includes Iceage (who play NYC twice in the coming months), Xeno & Oaklander, Pop. 1280, Kindest Lines, Dangerous Boys Club, Anasazi (who play Acheron next week), RØSENKØPF (them too), and YOU.
Pop 1280, who will embark on a US tour in May, play a NYC show at Death By Audio on Saturday (4/14) as part of a record release celebration for White Suns's new LP Sinews. Stream that release in its entirety at Spin now. Pop 1280 also play a Brooklyn show with O'Death in May.

Racebannon video still

"These Midwestern weirdos have a real knack for crafting some of the most out-there noise-core imaginable. Whether it's teaming up with the "God of Noise" Merzbow, for the Merzbannon project, or crafting a rock opera centered on somebody who makes a pact with the devil to become a transsexual rock star, these guys certainly know how to push the limits of extreme music and get under your skin.... [Verbicide]"Racebannon are hitting the road in late April, tagging a pair of shows in NYC including Saint Vitus on April 24th with Vaz and Guardian Alien and Cake Shop on April 25th with White Suns and Zulus. Full tour schedule is below.
The dates are in celebration of the band's Six Sik Sisters, out now and featuring "Thee Desparate" which makes its debut in video form below. Video and tour dates below...

Youth Attack have updated their site with orders for the new Salvation House of the Beating Hell EP, new second Hoax EP, a new ARTS LP Thousand Wounds of War, and so much more. Head to their site for more details (I recommend the Hoax, ARTS and Salvation records).
If you missed it, we posted two sets of pictures from Deatmatch during SXSW (SET 1, SET 2), a set of pictures from Lovejoy's during SXSW, my official showcase during SXSW, and pictures from our bridge show. We welcomed a new EP from Cop Problem, interviews with Black God, new shows from Ilsa, Rorschach, Old Man Gloom, D-Clone, Young Widows, Autopsy and more. Got stoked and then immediately diappointed with the Kiss it Goodbye reunion and scratched our heads in disbelief at the "Death to All" reunion and Wolvhammer cover of The Cure (the latter in a positive way).
More suggested shows, a stream of a new Horseback song, the Split Cranium LP (with Aaron of Isis and members of Circle) a 16 song, an Author & Punisher song, a White Suns song and more is below. What did I miss?

DOWNLOAD: Zs - Gentleman Amateur (Leg Lifters "Professional" Remix) (MP3)

Unlike basically every other cultural outlet, the writers of Tiny Mix Tapes voted to give their Album of Year honors to an artist that isn't Kanye West. Instead, they gave it to NYC avant-noise/rock group Zs for their excellent 2010 album New Slaves. (Don't worry: Kanye still made #10.)
Zs will start the new year with a complement to that record, New Slaves II: Essence Implosion!, a collection of remixes that comes out on the Social Registry on Tuesday, January 25th. On the record, the band's tracks are reworked by the likes of Genesis P. Orridge, JG Thirwell, Gabe Andruzzi of The Rapture and others, and the whole thing starts off with a new track featuring Charlie Looker, Weasel Walter and WFMU's Marty McSorely. Two of those remixes are posted above, along with an exclusive mix not on the release done by Justin Pearson of The Locust (That's the Leg Lifters "Professional" Remix of "Gentleman Amateur"). You can also check out "Acres of Skin" from New Slaves, to give you a taste of the source material.
Zs have an album-release show for the disc Monday/tonight at Knitting Factory with Thee Majesty (Feat. Genesis P-Orridge), Ecstatic Sunshine, Cex and DJ DRUZZ (The Rapture/Throne Of Blood). The group has a special set (with an extra member) planned in honor of the release, so expect something unusual. Tickets are still on sale.
Also coming up, Zs: Black Crown Ceremony will play with Sightings, White Suns and Normal Love at Death By Audio on January 28th.

Mike Yaniro, in happier times

As you all may or may not know, a dear friend of mine named Michael Yaniro was a victim of violent robbery in the Ridgewood area of Queens (NYC). He was savagely beaten beyond recognition, and now he's got a long road ahead of him with many surgeries. To add insult to his injuries, he has no medical insurance!Twin Stumps recently released a new killer LP on Dais Records. It's what turned me on to the damaged, caustic noise rock (in a Clockcleaner, Drunkdriver, Brainbombs sense) band. Soon after, their bassist Mike Yaniro was viciously attacked. Since then a groundswell of support from the underground has surfaced, including a few benefit shows. The latest show is scheduled for Dec 4th (Friday) at Death By Audio, where Pink Reason, Sightings, York Factory Complaint (featuring Genesis P-orridge), and White Suns are all on the bill.A brief description of his injuries: His right eye socket needs surgery as there is a bone protruding into it... so it needs to be repaired to restore his ability to move the eye. (He has had this surgery, and will need more work in the future). He has a fractured jaw and nose which will require surgery to repair, as well as multiple broken bones in his face. Pieces of titanium metal is to be inserted in his face to support the bones.
His girlfriend Abby is trying to get him Emergency Medicaid, but that is really tough to get approved, and its doubtful whether or not it will be rewarded. That is why this fundraiser was started. Its not registered as non-profit organization (so if you're looking for a tax break, this is not the time and place for it), but as a way to possibly raise a little money to help him through his crisis. [Julie Finley]
If you can't make it on Friday, head to the Mike Yaniro site to see how you can help, or pick up a copy of the Twin Stumps LP (recommended!) here. Get back to rockin soon!

DOWNLOAD: White Mice - "PasssTheFissst" (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: Liturgy - "Ecstatic Rite" (MP3)

If you like your noise rock caustic, filthy, and dressed up in a dead mouse costume, then clear your schedule on Monday night (8/10) and head down to Death By Audio.
Rodent obsessed, toilet-humored, ill-tongued masked wackos. Weed-fueled, grinding sludge, noise-damaged, broken oscillator junkyard trio. Demented cheese lovers with a beef against God. Yeah The White Mice from Providence are all those things and more. Too fucked up and noise fixated for the average metalhead, too stoned, sleazy and salacious for the hipster and punk set, The White Mice have for years existed on the fringes of every underground scene and belonged to none of em.Cacaw, Liturgy, and White Suns also play the Brooklyn show on Monday. Expect White Mice to crank out some new material from their upcoming debut on 20 Buck Spin, Ganjahovahdose, due in October. One of those tracks, "PasssTheFissst", is available for download above (along with Liturgy's "Ecstatic Rite", which you first saw here).Musically speaking one might hear traces of Melvins, Brainbombs, Buzzoven and their Providence brethren in Landed, Drop Dead and Lightning Bolt. And yet the Mice, whose devastatingly loud (like Dino Jr. loud), crude and visually incredible live show leaves mouths agape and the uninitiated properly converted, easily stand apart from any proper comparison as a beast of their own making.
After NYC, White Mice will scoot down the east coast eventually crash landing at the absolutely killer Filth City Fest II in Baltimore, MD with a massive lineup of Hammers of Misfortune, Ludicra (both are in NYC on 8/11, tickets here), Asshole Parade (who are coming to NYC), Defeatist (who played BV Show No Mercy), Pulling Teeth, Man Will Destroy Himself, Cough (who played Europa with Liturgy), Fight Amp (who are playing NYC in September), Infernal Stronghold, and soooooo many others. Tickets are still available. Set times and the full band list is below.
White Mice is currently featured on a new cassette-only comp on Damage Rituals entitled The Dead Hand: Human Machines along with a cast of out-there heavy luminaries like Ocrilim (aka Mick Barr), STATS (who also played BV / Show No Mercy), Vaz, Drunkdriver, Child Abuse, Dysrhythmia, Zs, and many many others. Pick that up here.
The next edition of Show No Mercy will feature Mick Barr, Gnaw, and Castevet and will take place on Sept 6th at Public Assembly.
White Mice tour dates, as well as video of White Mice, Liturgy, drunkdriver, and Child Abuse are below....
