George Clinton announced last year he’d be retiring from touring in 2019, and has been on an extended farewell to the stage ever since. Wrapping up in August, his final tour hit Central Park on Tuesday night (6/4) for a packed SummerStage show…

”This will be my last show indefinitely, and and I’m glad it’s ending in NY where I came up,” Mitski says.

The music, comedy, food and idea festival returns in 2019 and moves to a new location, Central Park’s Great Lawn.

As always, the shows are free and open to the public, and happen on Fridays starting in mid-May through the summer, from 7 AM-9 AM.

SummerStage has announced its 2019 lineup of over 100 free shows which happen at NYC parks in all five boroughs, including Japanese Breakfast, Big Freedia, FELA! The Concert, Young M.A, The Wailers, Parquet Courts, The Mountain Goats, Corinne Bailey Rae, Alvvays, and more.

Bloc Party are performing their classic debut in full in DC, Philly, Boston, NYC, LA, and San Francisco.

The Australian band will be visiting the United States this summer.

Central Park SummerStage is undergoing a $5 million remodel before it reopens for its 2019 season, and getting a new stage, new sound system, LED screens, more bathrooms and more.
