Fat Wreck Chords’ (in)famous compilation of 101 30-second punk songs is turning 21, and since we’re all sitting at home during quarantine, we thought: what if we individually review all 101 songs?

Brian — who used to front Battery, currently fronts Be Well, and produced classic records by Converge, Thrice, Hot Water Music, and many more — tells us about the music getting him through quarantine.

This edition of In Defense of the Genre looks at 20 bands from the mainstream pop punk era paying tribute to the comparatively underground legends who influenced them, through the lens of cover songs that still sound great today.

H2O and Gorilla Biscuits recently finished a European tour with Agnostic Front and Wisdom of Chains, and the two New York hardcore bands will join forces again in late March

It also celebrates Toby Morse’s 50th birthday and it’s with Wisdom In Chains, Field Day (Field Day-era Dag Nasty members Doug Carrion and Peter Cortner playing songs from that era of the band), Be Well (ex-Battery, Fairweather, Darkest Hour, Bane, Converge), Rend, and special guests TBA.
