Friday at Big Ears also saw performances by Chocolate Genius, Rhiannon Giddens, Kristin Hersh, Christian McBride, Molly Tuttle, Molly Lewis, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Joanna Sternberg, Carl Craig, and more.

Friday’s NYC-area shows include Porno for Pyros, Dawn Richard & Spencer Zahn, Turnover, Glitterer, Gruff Rhys, Jonathan Richman, Katy Kirby, New Colossus Fest, and more.

“Sometimes the music is misleading to what’s going on in the scene even, and I loved that,” Medeski says of his score for ‘The Curse.’ “The music has this other dimension that provides atmosphere. It isn’t just programmatic, it’s another character.”
