John Prine closed out the 2017 edition of Newport Folk Festival with a guest filled set, including appearances from Roger Waters, Justin Vernon, Jim James, Lucius, Margo Price, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

Newport Folk Festival often hosts special one-off collaborations between artists, and this year was no different; members of Hiss Golden Messenger joined Justin Vernon, Natalie Prass, Phil Cook, Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers, and Alynda Segarra of Hurray for the Riff Raff to cover Bill Withers as Grandma’s Hands Band.

One of the collaborative highlights of the third edition of Eaux Claires was ‘Bon Iver Presents: John Prine and the American Songbook,’ which featured artists like Justin Vernon, Jenny Lewis, Jeff Tweedy, Mountain Man, Spank Rock, and Anais Mitchell covering Prine’s songs.

This weekend, Jeff Tweedy releases his new solo acoustic LP, and Wilco will perform ‘Being There’ in full at their semi-annual Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCA…

Ani DiFranco’s new album includes a song with vocals from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon. DiFranco will also perform and win an award at this year’s A2IM Libera Awards at Playstation Theater.

Last year, Bon Iver sampled Fionn’s voice on “00000 Million” and then performed the song with him in Berlin (watch a video). Now Fionn will release his first album in five years…

‘The Dundee Project’ is the new film from Wisconsin filmmaker Mark Borchardt who’s 1997 horror film ‘Coven’ which in turn was the subject of the great comedic 1999 documentary ‘American Movie.’

The daily lineups have been announced for the Justin Vernon/Aaron Dessner-curated Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, which goes down June 16 & 17…

The fest includes ‘Artists-In-Residence’ which will have “an assembled cast of notable musicians [creating] an integral creative core, ready to jump in and contribute their talents to announced and unannounced performances across the entire weekend.”

Bon Iver is doing a set billed as ‘Bon Iver Presents John Prine And The American Songbook,’ the legendary Paul Simon is doing a collab set with yMusic, and the bill also includes Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown, Sylvan Esso, Mountain Man, Collections of Colonies of Bees, and more.
