Record Store Day

The tour, presented by House of Vans and Record Store Day, is to promote the new Wax Trax! documentary and Ministry’s sets will stick to ’Psalm 69’ and earlier material. All shows are free.

The soundtrack includes unreleased and out-of-print tracks from Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, Front 242, Laibach, Chris Connelly, The Young Gods, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and more.

Crosley, makers of inexpensive record players that are the bane of audiophiles and vinyl nerds’ existence, have put out special models for Record Store Day the last few years and this year are making a mini turntable just for 3″ records…

This week: Laibach cover ’The Sound of Music’ via North Korea; Jacco Gardner goes instrumental; and new reissues from The Spinanes, Sloan and David Axelrod.

Czarface, the collaborative project between Wu-Tang’s Inspectah Deck and Boston duo 7L & Esoteric, already released a collaborative album with MF Doom this year, and now they’ve got a Record Store Day Black Friday release coming this Friday…

…and Weezer’s Africa-shaped picture disc for their ”Africa” cover.

You may remember that Capital Punishment, Ben Stiller’s high school band from the early-’80s, had their self-released 1982 debut album, ’Roadkill’, reissued by Captured Tracks. The interest in the record has stirred the creative juices of the band who went back into the studio and recorded a new EP…

“…the record is being reissued as a stand-alone vinyl release in the U.S. for the first time and will be getting the deluxe treatment which includes an extra LP of bonus tracks making their debut on vinyl.”

Record Store Day Black Friday happens at independent record stores on November 23 and exclusive titles include records by Talking Heads, Type O-Negative, Devo, The Stooges, The Germs, The Zombies, Sheryl Crow, Manchester Orchestra, Matthew Sweet and more.
