Afropunk Festival wrapped up its 2017 edition on Sunday (8/27) at Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park with more wild fashion, activism, and a great musical lineup including Raphael Saadiq, Kaytranada, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Gary Clark Jr., Burn, Dizzee Rascal, Michael Kiwanuka, Kevin Abstract, Tygapaw, The Cool Kids, J Rocc with Karriem Riggins, and more.

Along with the many festivals she’s played this summer, Solange directed the next video that will be released from SZA’s ‘CTRL,’ “The Weekend.” She also has a “digital interactive dossier” at London’s Tate Modern featuring performance art, poetry, and visual concepts.

Afropunk Festival kicked off its 2017 edition at Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park on Saturday (8/26) with beautiful weather and a stacked lineup, including Solange, Soul II Soul, Macy Gray, Sampha, Sinkane, KING, Serpentwithfeet, and Little Simz.

Absolutely perfect weather, an incredible lineup — not to mention the amazing fashion going on in the crowd — made for a great start to Afropunk Fest 2017…

Afropunk Fest is this weekend and, in addition to the main programming’s killer lineup (Solange, Soul II Soul, Dizzee Rascal, Sampha, Thundercat, tons more), there is also the official Afropunk After Dark programming that includes, music, film, comedy and more.

Sunday is mostly free of notable conflicts, but you’ll have to make some decisions on Saturday. Fortunately Solange’s set only conflicts with a DJ set.
