Cut-and-paste sonic social critics / pranksters Negativland are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and will release new album True False on October 25. It's the first of two interconnected albums, and "tackles concerns that will be familiar to any surviving fans of the band: our nervous systems, our realities, and the evolving forms of media that inevitably insert themselves between the two.
Lyrically, Chuck Stern says the album is about ”exile and abandonment... It is a story about certain people in my life moving on without me: the death of my father, a terrible breakup with a girlfriend, Obama's departure.”
The festival begins this Thursday (5/18) and runs through June 8, also including Marc Ribot, Steve Gunn, Gyan Riley, Trixie Whitley, Ava Mendoza, Indian slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya, and more.
