After teasing some shows yesterday, the Smashing Pumpkins’ ”classic lineup” reunion has announced a very lengthy tour focusing on their first five albums (including MSG).

There may be a tour this year, too, with Billy, James and Jimmy (but not D’Arcy?).

Smashing Pumpkins’ William Patrick Corgan (as he wishes to be called now) began his solo acoustic tour with two shows at Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre over the weekend. Both nights featured two sets: first playing new solo album Ogilala as well as a cover of “If I Were a Carpenter”; and then returning for a second, career-spanning set heavy on Smashing Pumpkins songs (including deep cuts and rarities), plus a few Zwan songs as well as some more covers…

Still no word on a reunion of Smashing Pumpkins’ original lineup, but frontman William Patrick Corgan (don’t call him Billy anymore) announced a new solo album and tour.
