Holy Hive — whose members have worked with Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, and others — are releasing a full-length album on Big Crown Records in 2019, but first they’ve got a two-song 7″ including a cover of The Invincibles’ 1968 song ”This Is My Story.” The video premieres here…

Charles Bradley, who died last year, would’ve been 70 on November 5, 2018 and that week, Daptone imprint Dunham records will release ‘Black Velvet,’ a record of never before heard songs recorded during sessions from Charles’ three albums, as well as some previously released non-album cuts.

This week’s BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on SiriusXMU took inspiration from the two big Dead & Co shows at Citi Field over the weekend, fitting in Dead covers from the likes of Courtney Love, Moses Sumney & Jenny Lewis, The War on Drugs, Charles Bradley, and Lucius, plus non-Dead music too.

The Screaming Eagle of Soul, Charles Bradley, sadly passed away following a battle with cancer in late September. Now he’s being honored in the city he called home for the past 20 years with a new mural.

Filmed at the three-night Daptone Super Soul Revue at The Apollo in Harlem in 2014, documentary/concert film Living on Soul will be the next installment of the BV-Presented “Music Driven” series at Nitehawk Cinema.
