Courtney, who has a rocky history with Bikini Kill dating back to Lollapalooza 1995, called them the ”biggest hoax in rock and roll” and added ”they suck.”

The “Pioneering People Basilica Benefit” paid tribute to Hole’s Courtney Love and also featured The Hold Steady’s Tad Kubler, Justin Vivian Bond and Kenny Mellman, Meredith Graves and more.

The fundraiser for Basilica Hudson is also in Courtney Love’s honor and other performers include Meredith Graves, Justin Vivian Bond, Faith No More’s Roddy Bottum and more.

This Basilica Hudson fundraiser is hosted by will be ”hosted” by Aaron Dessner (The National), Miles Joris-Peyrafitte, Ryan McGinley, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Elvis Perkins, Chloë Sevigny, Michael Stipe, Brandon Stosuy, Jack Walls, Yelena Yemchuk, and “other special guests.”

Smashing Pumpkins’ 30th anniversary show in NJ was a guest-filled affair, with appearances from Courtney Love, Chino Moreno, Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer of The Killers, Peter Hook, Davey Havok, and, for whatever reason, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath.

The Pumpkins did their own songs with Chino Moreno (Deftones) and Killers members; Hole songs and “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” with Courtney; Joy Division/New Order songs with Peter Hook, Davey Havok (AFI), and Courtney; and Sugar Ray and Judas Priest with Mark McGrath.

It will also, for some reason, feature Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath.

This week’s BrooklynVegan Blog Radio on SiriusXMU took inspiration from the two big Dead & Co shows at Citi Field over the weekend, fitting in Dead covers from the likes of Courtney Love, Moses Sumney & Jenny Lewis, The War on Drugs, Charles Bradley, and Lucius, plus non-Dead music too.
