It was a double-shot of Toronto at Sea, or at least the East River, when noise punks METZ and dance-rock crew Holy Fuck joined forces to play a Rocks Off Concert Cruise

Lake Ruth, the trio featuring members of Enon, The New Lines, and The Eighteenth Day of May, draw influence from from baroque psychedelia, ’60s film soundtracks, Serge Gainsbourg and motoroik krautrock, for a pristine, groovy, retro-futuristic pop sound.

Members of The Wrens, The Dismemberment Plan, Hole, Chrome Cranks, and more came out for a very special evening.

People would mention Explosions in the Sky using colorful terms, but I’d never give them a second consideration. I’d say, “Oh yeah, that band, they’re alright.” It was an all-around meh feeling, yet so many others claimed to be floored and blown away. Turns out, I’m sucker for being floored and blown away, and someone important to me once gave me the advice: if you don’t fucking know, go fucking find out.

They’ll finish up the May tour in NYC.
