Tony Rettman celebrating new 'Straight Edge' book in NYC; FYA 5 announced

Tony Rettman, author of NYHC: New York Hardcore 1980–1990 and Why Be Something That You’re Not: Detroit Hardcore 1979-1985, is releasing his new book, Straight Edge: A Clear-Headed Hardcore Punk, next week (11/14). He celebrates it in NYC tonight, with a Q&A with Scott Crawford, who directed the Salad Days: A Decade Of Punk In Washington, DC (1980-90) documentary.

Siege reuniting, announce show with Infest & Dropdead

The legendary and incredibly influential hardcore/grind band Siege have been broken up for some time, but they’re billed to play at least one show this year. No word yet on who’s in the band — original vocalist Kevin Mahoney and his replacement Seth Putnam both passed away in 2011 — but the show happens in July in Providence with Infest, Dropdead, and more.
