Original Luna bassist (and former Chills member) Justin Harwood joined them at all three NYC shows, and original drummer Stanley Demeski played with them on Saturday.

The tribute also includes Silver Jews/Purple Mountains covers by Pete Astor (The Loft), Robert Scott (The Bats), Jad Fair, Business of Dreams, Kyle Forster (who played on the Purple Mountains album), Jeremy Jay, Diane Cluck, Daisies, Holy Wave, Caged Animals, Bill Baird, and more.

Quintessential US indiepop label Slumberland Records, which has been home to Black Tambourine, Aislers Set, Lorelei, Lilys, Henry’s Dress, Crystal Stilts, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Boyracer and more, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year by going back to its roots and celebrating the 7″ single.

Robert Ellis released ’Texas Piano Man’ back in February which, as its title suggests, finds him trading his guitar for a grand piano and working in the classic ’70s singer-songwriter motif while retaining that Texas style.

Luna will be touring this fall, where they’ll play either 1993’s ’Bewitched’ or 1995’s ’Penthouse’ in full, with a second set of favorites from the rest of their catalogue. They’ve expanded their tour and have also added a few show where they’ll play their 1992 debut album, ’Lunapark,’ as well.

Back in 2016, Luna did a few shows where they played their 1995 album ’Penthouse’ in full. They’ll be doing it again this fall, and are also doing shows where they’ll play their 1993 album, ’Bewitched,’ in full too.

It’s in celebration of The Velvet Underground Experience exhibition which opens October 10 in NYC. There are also playlists by Julian Casablancas, Robyn Hitchcock, Dean Wareham, and more.
