Mudhoney, Beach House, Afghan Whigs & more playing Sub Pop's 30th anniversary
Seattle indie rock label Sub Pop is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year by throwing a festival called SPF30 which happens August 10-11 that includes a big all-day free show on 8/11 along Alki Beach in West Seattle, featuring Mudhoney, Beach House, Wolf Parade, Shabazz Palaces, Fastbacks, Loma, LVL UP, METZ, Moaning, and more. Plus: the cast of Bob’s Burgers, and more.

The lineup also includes Prince’s backing band The Revolution, Thundercat, dvsn, Liz Phair, Waxahatchee, Gang Gang Dance, Body/Head, Grouper, U.S. Girls, Haliu Mergia, and more.

The L.A. trio incorporate dark shoegaze and wall-of-noise rippers into their hazy sonic palette, with some soaring, poppy numbers too. Their tour also includes dates with METZ and Ed Schrader’s Music Beat.
SXSW announces second round of 2018 artists
Among the just-announced acts are Andrew WK, Basement, Boy Harsher, The Dwarves, Moon King, Mothers, Palm, Porches, Pure Bathing Culture, Shame, and Tancred. SXSW Music Festival happens March 12 – 18 in Austin, TX.
