Following the sad news of Tom Petty‘s death, Coldplay performed “Free Fallin'” with REM’s Peter Buck at their show Monday in Portland, and Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws offered up a solo take on “Learning to Fly.”

It has also been revealed that Kevin Devine is touring as a member of Brand New for the foreseeable future.
