NYC’s Pride March returned on Sunday (6/26) for its first in person, full capacity edition since 2019’s WorldPride

2022’s theme was Dykes for Trans Liberation, and following the Supreme Court’s Friday decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, many carried signs calling for abortion access and blasting the court.

While the NYPD descended on the march late in the day, arresting at least four people and using pepper spray, they could not sully the entirety of the march or the meaning behind it.

”It’s not a happy announcement, but its one we have to make,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

The rainbow-festooned spectacle that was the WorldPride edition of the Pride March had a protest-focused alternative, The Queer Liberation March.
