Her new album is a departure from the gritty punk of past bands she’s been in, instead featuring catchy, dreamy pop songs that capture the time in her life post-Swearin’, which she describes as a “scrapbook of that time.”

Allison Crutchfield announces Merge debut, shares "Dean's Room"

The lead single is “Dean’s Room,” which, like Waxahatchee’s Merge debut, has Allison’s trademark style get a boost from some more layering and glossier studio production than she usually has. It was produced by Philly’s Jeff Zeigler, who’s also worked with Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs, Nothing, and more.

Pre-Waxahatchee/Swearin’ band PS Eliot reuniting once again for a Brooklyn show before Asbury Park’s New Alternative Music Fest. Waxahatchee is also releasing ‘Early Recordings’ in June.

The festival aims to be “held in direct opposition to the apolitical sludge that has come to pass as ‘indie’ and that has nothing to do with operating independently.” They add, “There will be no sponsors, no backdoor advertising via branded content, or other base money-making schemes.”

Salinas Records celebrating 10th anniversary w/ Swearin', PS Eliot, The Measure [sa], The Ambulars, All Dogs and more

This Saturday (8/17) at Silent Barn, Salinas Records will throw a tenth anniversary party, which is being dubbed “Punk Is Important.” Brooklyn/Philly lo-fi pop punks Swearin’ and related band Radiator Hospital (fronted by Waxahatchee collaborator Sam Cook-Parrott) are playing, as are Ginger Alford (of Good Luck), Little Lungs (whose Angie Boylan is now in Aye Nako), the now-defunct PS Eliot (whose lineup includes Swearin’s Alison Crutchfield on drums and her twin sister, Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield, on vocals), the now-defunct (but don’t call it a reunion) The Measure (whose members are now in Pity Party, Worriers, and other bands), the now-defunct North Lincoln (who currently have a member in Wormburner), North Lincoln’s also broken-up pals The Gibbons, The Ambulars, The State Lottery, Delay, and All D……
