John Prine closed out the 2017 edition of Newport Folk Festival with a guest filled set, including appearances from Roger Waters, Justin Vernon, Jim James, Lucius, Margo Price, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

“By enabling Mr. Waters to perform, NEC has given Mr. Waters a forum or platform to express his BDS ideology,” Nassau County Attorney Carnell Foskey wrote in a letter Tuesday. Legis. Howard J. Kopel (R-Lawrence) added that allowing Waters to perform “offends the sense of decency held by our residents.”

The R.E.M. frontman says: “I stand with Radiohead and their decision to perform. Let’s hope a dialogue continues, helping to bring the occupation to an end and lead to a peaceful solution.”
