This week in Bill’s Indie Basement: Chromatics’ stunning ‘Closer to Grey’; DIIV get heavy on ‘Deceiver’; Sloan revisit 1998’s ‘Navy Blues’ with a new box set; and Madchester icons Happy Mondays reissue their earliest EPs.

The 3-LP ’Navy Blues’ box set comes with the original album remastered, a whole discs of demos and outtakes, plus two 7″s and more. The band’s ’Navy Blues’ tour is underway as well.

Anyway Gang is a Canadian indie rock supergroup featuring Chris Murphy of Sloan, Dave Monks of Tokyo Police Club, Menno Versteeg of Hollerado and singer-songwriter Sam Roberts…

As mentioned, Sloan will be releasing a deluxe edition of their great 1998 album ’Navy Blues’ at some point soon and to celebrate, they’re going to play the album in full on tour across Canada and the U.S.

Canadian greats Sloan have been alternating between new albums and putting out deluxe reissues of their older ones for most of this decade, and next up is a look back at their great 1998 album, ’Navy Blues,’ which found them adopting ’70s hard rock riffage and power pop.
