Sound on Sound

We’re really sad to hear the news that the awesome Texas festival Sound on Sound is cancelling its 2017 edition “due to several recent roadblocks outside of [their] control.” Here’s the full statement…

This week’s show had music from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Digable Planets, Blood Orange, Hot Chip, Vince Staples, Ministry, Ariel Pink, Dinosaur Jr, Sleep, Grizzly Bear and lots more.

Norwegian electronic artist Lindstrøm is back with new album It’s Alright Between Us As It Is, which will be out October 20 via Smalltown Supersound. The record features guest appearances by Jenny Hval, Frida Sundemo, and Grace Hall.

Sound on Sound will host Druid’s Discothéque, a “full club experience” that is inspired by “1970’s nightclubbing, from the shores of Italy’s Lake Garda where the classic Cosmic Club thrived, to DJ Kool Herc’s legendary basement parties at 173 Sedgwick Ave in the Bronx where Hip Hop was born.”

French pop artist Yelle hasn’t released an album since 2014’s Complètement Fou, but things are stirring in her world. She’s released two new singles recently, and has just announced a North American tour for the fall.

The Austin-area festival includes Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Iggy Pop, Grizzly Bear, Blood Orange, Electric Wizard, Sleep, The Shins, Vince Staples, Dinosaur Jr, Converge, Taking Back Sunday, and more.
