The troubled Woodstock 50 has found an eleventh hour replacement venue in the Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, but its troubles are far from over.

It’s still set to be held in less than a month, from August 16-18, 2019, although tickets have yet to go on sale, and which artists from the original lineup will play a modified version of the festival more than 250 miles south of the original venue at Watkins Glen remains to be seen.

The troubled festival’s latest scheme would come with a name change and reduction in capacity, as well as major uncertainties over whether artists originally booked would still be contracted to play.

At least one Woodstock 50 performer isn’t going to mince words about the viability of the troubled festival.

”We regret that those in Vernon who supported Woodstock have been deprived of the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of the rebirth of a cultural peace movement that changed the world in 1969 and is what the world needs now,” festival organizers write.

”Will you all let peace, love and music previl August 16-18?” Woodstock 50 asks the town of Vernon, NY, who denied them a permit to hold the festival at Vernon Downs.

The festival issued a statement in response, which reads, “Woodstock 50 believes certain political forces may be working against the resurrection of the festival.”

Woodstock organizers claim former financial partners Dentsu Aegis Network ”illegally swept” the $18.5 million from festival bank accounts.

The troubled festival has suffered another couple of major blows: it lost its venue and producer.
