Take Over and Destroy

Take Over and Destroy releasing S/T album, share "Leave the Door"

Arizona metal crew Take Over and Destroy (aka TOAD) are getting ready to release their sophomore LP. The self-titled record drops on October 7 via Prosthetic, and they’ve shared a couple new songs, the most recent of which is called “Leave the Door.”

Take Over and Destroy are unique for the way they take historically self-serious genres like death and black metal and inject them with a dose of Dario Argento/John Carpenter 70s-era horror-camp. While their first album was on the noisier side, the new songs seem more tightly wound and hookier. It serves them well, as “Leave the Door” has a crunchy stoner-death verse groove that bleeds into a legitimate earworm of a chorus. And the earlier single, “By Knife” is a gothy, atmospheric piece of songwriting that still finds time for a ripping guitar solo. On these two songs alone, everything is kind of all over the map, but that’s what’s cool about this band.
