Tallies prep debut LP (stream 2 tracks), playing free NYC show w/ The Natvral & more
Toronto band Tallies have a jangly sound that at times recalls The Smiths, The Sundays and other ’80s alt bands, but singer Sarah Cogan’s smoky vocals pull things into other territory. The band have signed with Kanine Records who will release Tallies’ debut LP on January 11. We’ve got the premiere of the video for current single “Beat the Heart” which Sarah says is about “the way people treat one another and the lack of empathy that exists so strongly today.” Watch that, and stream another track from the LP, below.
Tallies are on a Canadian tour as we speak and are at Halifax Pop Explosion this week. They’ll be in NYC to play the free Kanine Holiday Party at Baby’s All Right on December 17 with The Natvral (Kip from Pains of Being Pure at Heart), Nicole Yun of Eternal Summers, and Honey Cutt. In addition to being a free show there’s complimentary Anti Hero IPA from 8-9 PM, and DJs in the front room.
