Temple of the Dog

Temple of the Dog reunite for 25th anniversary of debut LP, touring, playing Madison Square Garden

temple1-1

Temple of the Dog, the one-album-wonder supergroup featuring members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, are getting back together for a 25th anniversary tour celebrating their 1991 debut. The original lineup of the band featured Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden and Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (on four songs), and was a tribute to Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood who died in 1990. (Gossard and Ament were both in MLB.) Says Cornell, “We wanted to do the one thing we never got to do … play shows and see what it feels like to be the band that we walked away from 25 years ago.”

Eddie Vedder is not officially listed as part of the reunion, but we hope he shows up to sing on his songs, much like Chris Cornell has done at Pearl Jam shows in the past. (Cornell joined Pearl Jam in 2014 at the Bridge School show and for two nights at PJ20 in Alpine Valley, WI, and the Temple line-up played “Reach Down” and “Call Me a Dog” at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in January 2015.)

Dates are all listed below and include Madison Square Garden on November 7. Tickets for the MSG show will go on sale Friday, July 29 at 12PM ET. They will also play Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco and, of course, Seattle.

There is also going to be a 25th anniversary reissue of the platinum-selling album, which spawned hits “Hunger Strike” and “Say Hello 2 Heaven,” with unreleased material and demos. Matt Cameron told Radio.com, “I think there’s probably alternate takes, and Chris made demos. His demos are pretty freaking cool – some are amazing. But I guess it depends on the quality.” The band won back rights to the album’s master tapes after a long court battle.

Pre-order the four-disc reissue, which is out September 30, and see all details/tracklist below.
