Halletts Point is a new waterfront mega-development coming to Astoria, Queens. It’s currently tied up in funding squabbles with the city, but acording to The Real Deal, developers The Durst Organization are going to make use of some of the space with a temporary 30,000-square-foot outdoor venue / cultural center that is expected to open this summer. Located at 27th Avenue and 1st Street, the venue will include a stage and host various events including music, dance, and film. “Hallets is something of a blank slate, and we want to start to highlight the cultural and arts community in Astoria,” said Durst spokeman Joel Barowitz. “It’s the final phase of the project so construction is a few years away. The views it has of Manhattan, it would be a shame not to activate it.” Stay tuned for more details.
