Tenacious D beat Mastodon, Motorhead & Anthrax for 2015 Metal Grammy; AC/DC kick off the awards show (watch)

Since the induction of the category in 1988 when Jethro Tull beat Metallica and AC/DC (and Iggy Pop and Jane’s Addiction), Metal and the Grammys have never had the best relationship. Flash forward to tonight when the 2015 winner for Best Metal Performance was… Tenacious D, who beat out Mastadon, Motorhead, Anthrax, and Slipknot for the award. Tenacious D dedicated the award to the album’s inspiration, Ronnie James Dio, who lost his battle with cancer in 2010:
